Bios not detect hard drive

Processor I3 4170 cpu @3.70GHZ
Memory 12 GB
Video Card(s) IntelHD graphics 4400
Storage 1 tb
Display(s) HP pavilion 23cw IPS backlit moniter
Audio Device(s) Realtek digital output
Mouse Asus mouse
Keyboard Asus keyboard
Software Windows 10 64 bit
Lost power for 5 secs. turned on computer and it boots into bios tried setting defaults does not pick up hard drive any help appreciated
 
Did you change anything on your computer.
Check the power and sata cables.

If that doesn't help, try the HDD in another computer.
If that doesn't work it's probably time for a new HDD , or preferably an SSD for the OS.
 
did not change anything was on the computer power went out restarted and BAM went into Bios

will a ssd work in my system

What have you tried and found out about the hard drive?
What hard drive is it?
Have you tried it in other SATA ports, on another PC, with a USB adaptor?
Does the PC work normally without the drive?
 
Yes it is the PC in my specs I have tried another hard drive in the system and it found it so i think my hd is fried
 
Well if that's all the information you'll share, then replace the hard drive.
