BIOS setting: SATA device type, what does it do?

For 'SATA device type' on my Asrock z390 there are two options for this setting 'Hard Disk Drive' or 'Solid State Drive' (but nothing for ODD, oddly enough). The SATA commands are the same either way so what exactly does this setting accomplish?

Either how it shows up to Windows for ensuring the correct partition offset, or for commands like trim that only apply to SSDs, VS idle down time that only applies to mechanical drives.
