Bioshock sound cutting out at times.

Anyone have the sounds cut out when there are many sounds going at once in Bioshock?
Me and my mate have the same exact problem on two totally different machines.

Both running XP home.

I particularly noticed this with the water when moving about and other things are going on at the same time.

Try disabling hardware-mixing of sound.
Try updating your drivers.

Try turning off EAX if it's on. That or make sure you don't have your onboard sound still on in the bios, that can horribly screw with games.

My mate is using Realtek onboard sound.
I'll have a fiddle with the settings.
Went a reset the sound card settings to default and reverb was set to max afterwards. :wtf:

No I don't have onboard enabled aswell as the sound card and EAX is not on.

With some fine voice work, sweeping musical score, and booming sound effects, BioShock’s audio lives up to the rest of the phenomenal package. There are a couple of technical issues on the PC version, however, and some sounds will occasionally cut out.

I completed the game a few hours ago, so the sound cutting out wasn't a major to me as it only happened when alot of other sounds were going at the same time.

Reading at 2K forum there is a thread which states this issue amongst other sound issues.
So it is quite widespread.

There must be some serious issues with the PC version since the patch for it still hasn't arrived yet.
