If you didn't install xp to a separate hd, and go into bios to select that hd as the boot device, then xp has replaced the vista boot loader. Normally, I'd use vistabootpro and make it rebuild the vista bootloader with xp on the menu as well. Unfortunately, vistabootpro isn't freeware anymore so now it's more complicated. I suspect using the vista boot disk to do a repair is an option, but you'll probably have to manually add xp to the boot menu.

You can dl older freeware versions of vista boot pro. They get the job done.

You can use EasyBCD and then follow this guide.

http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Installing+XP+After+Vista

Read the setting up dual boot and finishing up sections.
+1

I used this, and it worked well.

I got my Vista installed first on my RAID, then I made a partition for my Windows XP, I installed XP, after that I couldn't boot into Vista.
So, I inserted the Vista DVD, use the startup repair, it fixed Vista, I was able to boot into Vista, but then I lost XP.

So, I download Easy BCD, I add an entry for XP , save it, write it, restart.

Then it's done.
