According to Kotaku and Shack News, Borderlands 2 developer Gearbox Software is already working on DLC before the game is even released. What can you expect? A new character class. At a PAX East panel this past weekend, the developer showed conceptual images for a new Mechromancer class. The class will be available to everyone when the DLC hits 60-90 days after the game hits shelves, but it will be free to those that pre-order the game, according to Kotaku. Gearbox also detailed two special editions for the game. The first will be the "Deluxe Vault Hunters Edition" for $99, completed with a bobble-head doll of game narrator and weapons dealer Marcus Kincaid. The second will be the "Ultimate Loot Chest Edition," which offers a Borderlands 2-style loot chest, sans hydraulics. Finally, the Gearbox gang tossed out Easter eggs with codes inside, redeemable at a special website, that allowed attendees to compete to potentially insert their names into Borderlands 2 or Aliens: Colonial Marines as an Easter egg.

The game hasn't even been released and the developers are already trying to find ways to cash in.
Oh well i wanted to buy this game, now i won't even lay a finger on it.

Bobble-head doll? Um.......Fallout 3 anyone?

"Vault" too even. Bethesda's lawyers might get twitchy over that one...

I hate day-1 DLC. :(

Then release Borderlands 2 60-90 days later with it included. That's assuming it isn't done already and they're delaying the launch to drive more sales of the base game.

I will still be buying the game and oh BTW they had bobble head dolls in the first one as well, they were figures of Marcus the gun dealer. Also vault represented the ancient vault that the treasure hunters seek to unlock, not a vault you hide in due to nuclear destruction.

dude, read the post, its coming out 60-90 days after borderlands 2 releases
That doesn't make it any better, regardless they are taking out what is suppose to be in the game at launch for nothing but pure greed.

I don't mind launch DLC as long as the base program has lots of content. Original Borderlands is a good example of this done properly.

It works for developer by allowing eager fans to buy more. It also helps eager fans by giving them the option to more content that otherwise wouldn't be available. It CAN be beneficial to everyone, unless they push too hard on the DLC and make the base game incomplete.

I hope that makes sense.

Just because they are releasing a DLC doesn't mean they took it from the main game. No were in the OP says that.

lol

They released their first DLC for Borderlands two months after as well, in all likelihood they had probably been working on it before Borderlands was released and guess what? They released two more DLC's month after month! Now unless the dev's are extremely fast I doubt they hashed out those other DLC's in a month and even had those in the pipeline before Borderlands was released. Those money grubbers! They even wrapped it up with more DLC 10 months later.

I didn't see many crying wolf over those early DLC releases, you're having a cry now because it's the in thing to do when you hear DLC coming out quickly after release.

Try to remember that DLC has another effect than just making the devs/pubs more money.
I keeps people in jobs after their function on the main product is complete.
I am always in favor of keeping your talent working instead of laying them off.

Usually Gearbox DLC's are around 9.99$ on steam so I would be willing to pay that if it is anything like zombie island for BL1

Yeah a year after Fallout 3 had em. Also G.E.C.K. was located in a Vault. Sorry. Its to close for me.

I agree. But thats thanks to consoles not the PC crowd. Most will think its some divine right to download this game and not pay for it.

Yeah a year after Fallout 3 had em.

They might have shared ideas...?

I will pay what ever they ask for it as long as I am entertained and it is worth the money to me. Being that premier members club get this DLC for FREE (if your pre-purchase the game) its not that big of a deal. I loved the first game, and I have played it through many times over again, and I am currently getting into it again with my girlfriend that I can not wait for the second one.

I don't understand this bitching about Day 1 or or what ever DLC if you do not want to pay for it DON'T BUY IT. There is not need to bitch and cry over it speak with your wallet no body is putting a gun to your head. Shit if it was my game id sell it at 10hour of game play lol I am sure there would be people that would pay :rockout:

I agree! I loved the DLC's they released for BL1 and IMO they were worth 10$ a piece. I will most likely Pre-order BL2 on steam as soon as its ready.

it's a pre-order incentive, and not a big deal. i too hate the greedy money grubbing, but there's a line - at some point it is just thoughtful advertising.

just because they have talked about it does not mean it is ready, or will be ready at launch. certifications, disc pressing, etc take time - and the retail game code could be ready months before the dlc. it should not be held up because people want more for free.

pre order, or buy it afterward. it's not day 1 dlc, and with gearbox/borderlands i'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. if it were the newest dragon age or call of duty it'd be different - i highly doubt borderlands 2 will be "lacking" without this dlc.

I don't care what they do - I had SO MUCH FUN with Borderlands 1 - that NOTHING will divert me from this second edition.

The whole concept and package was a blast and was really fun to replay - and the previous DLC's where also A TON OF FUN.

Cant wait for more - and if anything I APPLAUD their prompt response to the obvious mass support for their DLC content - Just because SOME PUBLISHERS think DLC is a cheap & easy cop out to revive so many other failing titles, doesn't mean that it cannot be a VERY GOOD THING in the right hands.

I hated everything about the first game and I'll hate everything about this one.

LOL you must live in a sad sad world Frick :)

I'm guessing you love StarCraft 2?

Honestly I agree with Frick. Only thing good about the first game was the theme song.

humor, guns, & loot - the best combination :)
