Hey guys, long time no see. I hope my mentors are still here.. Heh

Well I'm trying to build a somewhat budget computer.
The system specs you see on my profile is already gone, I sold it a year ago due to some financial need.

Now that I'm back and has a job and just recently promoted, I'm trying to get back into building a computer that would fit me nicely (not an overclocker but in due time probably). I'm not quite familiar with the new trends of mobo and procs here, but seeing that the AMD route fits my budget exactly. I'm looking at the following (and this is what is available in our local store):

AMD FX-8350 BE
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4.0
a stick of Crucial 4gb DDR3 1600mhz ram
a WD 500gb Cav Blue HDD Sata 3

Would I encounter any problems here with the board reading something about UEFI and what not? Or does the rev 4 come with a good BIOS?

Oh if I'm missing out on PSU and GPU, I will recycle what I have left.
A Cougar 750w modular psu and a GTX560Ti OC.

Thanks and regards to my pals here in TPU :)
Happy Holidays!

I'm assuming you are referring to the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4.0 as I can't find any information about a Gigabyte GA-990FX-UD3 Rev. 4.0 motherboard. From what I read, as long as it's a Rev 4 board, you shouldn't have any BIOS issues.

Yes. That's the right motherboard . Sorry I forgot to put in the "A" part :).
Off the bat is there any special configuration that I need to do to get it running at the default speeds? And what is this turbo mode that I keep on reading about... Heh.

Thanks man!

It will work fine , change the hdd to seagate maybe and get some cooler for your cpu . GL HF :D

Thanks, I plan to get better RAM and cpu aircooling in the future :D.

If I'm understanding your question, you are referring to where a CPU will be basically OC'ed by the motherboard when you are doing something that requires the extra processing power. With my 2600k for example, while running at stock speeds, it normally would run at 3.4ghz, but when doing something CPU intensive, my system will automatically OC the 2600k to 3.8ghz.

#5 Thats Ok , we have got the basics like mobo cpu and thats stuff so you save some money and like you said in the future you get more ram and cooling .

Thanks guys, will try and put it all together and see how it comes up... :D

Built it but the stock cooler sounds like a jet engine!! WTF hahah... Even though it's not hot, still loud. Is there anyway to control this? I've used SpeedFan before, but is there anything compatible with 990fxa-ud3?

it shouldn't be very loud, what temperatures are you getting?

Tyy seeting it up under hardware monitor in your bios preferences.

Sorry for the late reply, just got home from shift. And thank you both for sticking around to tutor/mentor/guide me :D

1. Around 31c min to 52c max, and it's on auto the fan runs at maximum 5kish rpm! Lol (temp readings according to HWmonitor by CPPUID)

2. I've set it to manual/silent and put in 0.75v/degrees C IIRC and now it's bearable hahah unlike last night

EDIT (after a couple of hours... dun dun dun, before I sleep):

I'm in a bit of a pickle here, can you guys suggest what case and air cooler is good, my budget for each is roughly 3,000 Philippine pesos (3k for case and 3k for cpu cooler).

Any suggestions from this lists of sellers that I have available in our place? Thanks

I was thinking of Hyper 212 Evo or something like the Noctua NHD-14, but what do you guys think?

Thanks for the inputs as always :D

212 evo or the 412.

How about for the cpu tower... Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You don't need a NH-D14 unless you plan on doing a major OC and running your CPU at full load for long periods of time(like I do crunching). If you just want a modest OC and don't plan to run your CPU at full load for weeks on end, the 212 EVO will do the job.

As for cases, personally, I like Lian Li for high-end and NZXT for budget cases.

Towers ?? I dont know m8 , I thing thats a personall decision but as Barbaricsoul said , Lianli or Nzxt .

+1 for this, I'll add in Silverstone too for the high end (just stay away from those god awful new Raven cases).

Thanks all for the responses, I'll be getting a Hyper 212 Evo or what ever it's variation is available..
As for the case , I'll be looking at those brands you guys suggested. I <3 Lian Li :D hope I can find some here!

Sorry for the late response, was busy gaming... Gawd awful backlogs :D
