System Name ICE-QUAD // ICE-CRUNCH
Processor Q6600 // 2x Xeon 5472
Memory 2GB DDR // 8GB FB-DIMM
Video Card(s) HD3850-AGP // FireGL 3400
Display(s) 2 x Samsung 204Ts = 3200x1200
Audio Device(s) Audigy 2
Software Windows Server 2003 R2 as a Workstation now migrated to W10 with regrets.
Situation:
FireGL-X3 with twin DVI. Driving Samsung 203ts and Samsung 171P on digital inputs.

Problem:
Colour calibration. The white and greys are not the same. They are cooler on the newer 203ts and warmer on the 171p. Probably due to different TFT technology, and different circuitry.

With DVI out, it is not possible to set the "colour temperature" on the TFTs. ("function not available on DVI"). Any adjustments need to be made via Windows. Problem is that the normal display properties that allow you to bluntly adjust gamma, contrast and brightness are very difficult to use... and I have not been successful in making the whites, let alone the greys, consistent.

Solution?:
Can anyone recommend some good calibration software so that I can use make the two screens behave similarly? It doesnt have to be perfect, just better.

i tried and really liked adobe gamma, but im sure you have to purchase it or it comes with photoshop other than that, dont know im afraid

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, Adobe Gamma is designed to work on 1 CRT screen. It's not designed to help calibrate 2 monitors (or TFTs) sitting next to each other so that they behave in the same way. (Or at least with the Adobe Gamma version that comes with Photoshop CS2, it's not obvious how to do this!)
