Hi all,

Not sure if this belonged here or in general hardware?

Anyway, can anyone tell me if it is possible to convert a normal USB printer to wireless with a wifi dongle perhaps?

I have an A3 printer which I dont have room for near to my main PC and want to put it in another room but dont want to run a long cable round the house to it. We already have a home network set up via my main PC so was wondering if I can use this to send stuff to this printer wirelessly?

Cheers :toast:

you can buy an ethernet printserver for usb. it connects to the printer via usb and to the network, then you can print using the network. maybe something similar exists with wireless instead of ethernet

Yes--just google "wireless print server". They start at about $50 in the U.S.

Many thanks for the replies :)

Next question then, I have a spare Netgear wifi router.....................

Can I use this somehow?

I have looked on Ebay and have found various products all for around the £30.00 mark here in the UK but if I can make use of this spare router I would rather do so ;)

Which netgear router?

Its an old one, its a DG834G v3. Having had a closer look at it now it only has an ADSL ethernet input and 4 LANS so I wouldnt think its suitable unless of course anyone knows different ;)

I found this one though on Ebay which I think should do the trick :)

Netgear DG834G v3 info can be found here

Yeah, your Netgear does not have USB support for your printer. I'd recommend you check to make sure your printer
is supported for that HP kit on ebay.

Already planned to check just in case of a compatibility issue. :)
