Yeah, I don't think lumping both mobile and PCs together makes sense. They don't use the same DRAM and PCs don't typically use NAND. Somebody's fishing for page clicks.

SSD's do use NAND, don't they? Basically all modern storage does, nowadays, and DRAM while not the exact same still is DRAM. I do think it makes sense, the whole reason the price got inflated in the first place was the excessive push (and very hiigh demand) for mobile devices - and the mobile market had serious margins to work with, so price getting inflated barely hurts business, while the contrary is true for PC. The turnaround now, also coincides exactly with the general sentiment that we don't need to replace our phone every other year because mid range already covers you very well and progress has stalled.

You can rest assured the instability in RAM pricing is largely attributable to the influence of mobile, in the end it all simply comes from the same factories.

Conflicting news...............>>>Japan-korea trade spat on essential chemicals supposed to raise Prices (Recent news).

One does not exclude the other :D

@Vayra86 Ah, somehow SSDs slipped my mind.
