Can game developers further optimize the CryEngine?

The benchmarks for Crysis are damn low, but is it because they weren't used to programming with the improved CryEngine? Will we see more games in the near future that uses the same engine thats been optimized so we don't need a crazy system to handle it on medium-high settings?

Same goes with graphics drivers.
 
Well since its DX10 im guessing it CAN be optimized since DX10 is SUPOST to be more optimized than DX9.
 
games will be getting to the hilt of using DX10.. thats what crysis is built for... New games, mean newer hardware.. all ways been, and will cont. to do so...
