i know there will be a bottle neck here, but i won't play high graphic games , only few games...
but all what i want is to be sure that the pci-e slot in G41 can run 8 giga ddr5 vram...
another thing, can i use the same thermal paste for both cpu and gpu or the gpu need adifferent type of thermal paste?
tbanks

If your power supply can handle it (emphasis, since G41 systems tend to be paired with pretty low power parts, and at this point are also very old), it should work.

Yes, GPU and CPU thermal paste can be the same.

yes i have seasonic 650 watt 80 plus gold power supply so there is no problem.right?
thanks for your help...

If the GPU in question has legacy BIOS support, yes. And yes, that power supply is good enough for an RX 580.

However, there is no socket 775 CPU fast enough for it to perform to its fullest, this includes the likes of E8600, Q9650, QX9650, etc. - so bear that in mind.

i don't know about legacy bios support , but i was using rx 570 4 giga ddr5 on the same pc...can you confirm that G41 motherboard can read 8 giga vram graphic card like rx 580?
thanks for your help.

how old is this thing? gold doesn't means anything by the way it's not a quality rating

It should work, it's just not gonna perform to its fullest. I tried a Fury X and even a 3090 on my Gigabyte G41MT-S2P. They work. But performance is really bad. I wouldn't recommend you spend money on a 580 to use on that PC.

The motherboard won't have problem with an 8GB card. Your PSU ought to be fine too. ("80 plus gold Seasonic" is vague, but AFAIK Seasonic hasn't put out any notably bad units of that description)

If you already have an RX 570 though, why get an RX 580?

i'm planning to upgrade to a new pc and i found rx 580 at affordable price so i will use it untill my upgrade

i don't agree with you because 80 plus gold rating is an indicator for good power supply efficiency.....

Not necessarily, there are some pretty horrible 80 Plus Gold power supplies. You should be okay with the one you have, though.

And efficiency isn't a synonym of quality, lawl.

Hey! If you're not going for heavy games, G41 should be okay, but check if your PCIe slot supports the GPU's specs. Same thermal paste works for both CPU and GPU, no worries!

G41 invariably means Gen 1 x16 slot with no UEFI support whatsoever

No problem. PCIe is backwards compatible.

Yup. Just saying that in this specific case it's not a variable, as long as the GPU can operate in BIOS mode it will work, no promises on perf though

Oh, yes.

VRAM amount doesn't matter for compatibility
G41 is PCI-E 1.1, which will limit the cards maximum speed but won't stop it working.
