Can't allocate partition previously ubuntu

Hello all,

I'm having this issue where I can't allocate my ~700GB partition I used to dual-boot Ubuntu on my 3TB HDD. Recently, I've decided to remove Ubuntu as I haven't been using it lately and wanted to use that amount of memory for something else on my windows part of the HDD. So what I did was go into the disk management in Windows, and delete the partition that Ubuntu was located on. It then became an Unallocated partition and I wanted to either extend another partition, or create a whole new partition for other things. Unfortunately, when I wanted to do either of those things, I would get an error: "There is not enough space available on this disk(s) to complete this operation" Even when I lowered the MB lower to that "available" it still gave me the error. I just cannot get it to work. I ended up trying using partitioning tools and those were all telling me that the disk is bad, and couldn't give me any information about it. I even performed a surface scan on one of the tools and no errors were found which confused me even more. I really want that partition back to use for my other things. I would like it if there was a way to do this without having to format the disk entirely, or something in that nature.

Some vital information is that windows is not installed on this HDD. That should PROBABLY narrow out the option of reinstalling windows.

Update: Adding image to help.

Use Diskpart in the command line.

MBR has a limitation of 2Tb

Never had experience with diskpart commands. Mind helping a bit with it?

That's what I don't really understand beacuse I had the full 3TB before I dual-booted linux, which in hindsight wasn't a great idea.

I'm not a big Linux guy but windows disk manager is pretty limited. Diskpart should be able to put a new partition there. To expand the partition you may need a program like partition magic, EaseUS

I used those and those gave me errors that the disk is bad. Not entirely sure why when it's reading perfectly fine on the windows disk manager. I can't use Diskpart as well because the unallocated partition doesn't show.

No progress has been made. I still cannot do anything with it.

No luck there, I might just end up moving on without those 687GB. There is a buch of crap I can get rid of to open up space.

Every sense UEFI and large drives came out they have screwed up partitioning. It can get complicated

If you Have your OS on a drive separate from this drive disconnect this drive and see if it still boots ok. If it does then you can back up this drive completely wipe it and start over

secure-erase disk
er..ok it's a platter.
Use Gparted and delete the partition then resize the one you want to use.

Click on the unallocated space with mouse and format to NTFS.

I did not see where you indicated that you did this after deleting Ubuntu., 1st post.

Once formatted, then try giving it a drive letter.

You are not formatting the entire drive, just the unallocated space.

You cannot format unallocated space. He did say he tried that. He deleted the Linux partition and tried to create a new partition and extend the existing partition. He's getting an error
