Can't control GPU fan speed

Display device : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti on TU116-A GPU (with Arctic Accelero cooler attached)
Display driver : 511.65
BIOS : 90.16.20.00.89

My issue is, I cannot control my GPU fan speeds through Aorus/MSI afterburner
the GPU is running on very low fan speed but as soon as I move the fan bar to any position in the apps, it cranks up to 100% fan speed and gets stuck on full speed
Safe mode makes it run on very low fan speed
The temp sensor is working fine, checked it under load

I've tried :
Reinstalling drivers through DDU safemode
Resetting cycle (10s power button when PSU turned off)
Making sure the connections are good and resitting the GPU

Anyone has any idea on what the issue might be? Do I need a seperated fan controller?
 
You say you have an arctic accelero attached, do they even allow fan speed adjustments?

Yeah I was able to adjust it up until a few months ago for a year straight

I read online that many have experienced this and is due to certain Nvidia drivers, not the software.

I have the same cooler on my 1080Ti and the fans ramp up and down just fine.

Suggest you take the card out and check that the fans are plugged in correctly to the card. The cooler has two different connectors, one for AMD cards and the other for Nvidia cards. Make sure you got the right plug and that its plugged in securely.

Giving it a tiny 'wiggle' in the socket after youve plugged it in might help. If not check the cable for breakages. you might have bent it too far and caused the cable to snap inside the plastic/silicone housing

I've had the fans replaced (got a spare fan part sent out by Arctic) because in the previous fans, I've had the same issue and tried fiddeling between the AMD and Nvidia connectors and fried the fans,
the problem presists with the new fans, I'll check if its the connections but I doubt it

if you still have the stock fan assembly - plug that into the card just to see what happens. Most cards will can run just fine passively until you load them up so there no need to worry about hurting your card.

If the stock fan still doesnt work then the fan controller on your card is most likely toast and you'll need to find another solution to your problem.

I'll give it a check,
but I've noticed that after running a game (gpu 100% fan speed, MSI AB is set to 25%), the msi ab graph chart on the fan % goes from 25% to 105/115% which is wierd but it's probably the sensors..
