I think it's because there's some conflict with the dependencies, but i've been unable to fix it myself, hence this post.

Take a look @ these two pics:

It says "libssl3" is not the newest version but, when i try to upgrade it, it says it depends on "libc6", which is ALREADY the newest version, despite it saying it's not.

So ... something's amiss ... but i don't know what, nor how to fix it.

I'm not 100% certain but, whenever i attempt to upgrade my current Ubuntu (20.04.6 LTS), it does nothing and I THINK it's because of this dependencies issue.

Try "sudo apt install libc6-dev". Apparantly your LTS is so out of date that it doesn't even get debian-stable packages. Maybe the dev-version is recent enough.

I'd consider upgrading to Ubuntu 22.

I do "sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade && sudo apt dist-upgrade && sudo apt autoclean && sudo apt autoremove" multiple times per week.

When i try to upgrade to version 22, it does nothing.

I think i need to fix the dependencies issue BEFORE upgrading, but dunno how to fix this.

I'm getting this, when i try to download the file:

???
That's normal because of the specific type of file you're downloading. You should have an option to download anyway. Either in the exclamation sign or through right-click context menu

I must have done something VERY WRONG, because i'm getting this:

Help?

Did you run this as sudo?

Do you have any custom repos enabled or remember installing some custom pacakge previously? It is crazy odd for a vanilla install to have these kinds of problems. I have never seen it unless the OS was touched in some way by a third party program.

Well ... i lost access to EVERYTHING, from to Internet access to home folder ...

Fixed it "the hard way": just installed Ubuntu 24.04, overwriting the previous install ...

Thanks all, regardless: please lock the topic.
