change to 16:9 ratio or keep original?

It won't decrease the quality, it will either strech it to 16:9 or you will have pillar boxes on the left and right of the image.

4:1 = 16:4 so yes its pretty wide

Edit:
Sorry, you worded that weird and I misunderstood.

Your first res is just under SDTV (4:3, you're rocking at 1.24:1, not 4:1) Youtube will stretch the video to fit 16:9, kinda like watching SD signal on an HDTV

wide screen tends to offer the most viewing pleasure :)..
but if your going to go 16:9..
you should go 1600 x 900 res at least or more..

at 1280 you'd be better off at 4:1 or whatever..
16:9 will stretch you.
I'm pretty sure im right but you can see for yourself by just trying it..
pretty sure 16:9 will stretch that pic and make it incorrect.

Basically this

will end up looking like this

so u saying best is to keep the original 4:3 ratio? if i do keep it.... it still would be wide screen in youtube right?

ozzie.... he look short and fat on 16:9 ratio. so my video will look short and fat too?

so if i keep original ratio.... does youtube still be in wide screen?

Exactly, he will look short and fat.

If you don't make it 16:9 then there will just be black bars on both sides of the video.

how big is the black bars? and does it be wide screen with black bars? or black bars and video shape like square?

no 16:9 ratio = square shape video? or retangle shape video with black bars?

bad grammer

square shaped video with thin black bars at the side.. sometimes a black box framing the video. Depends on the res of the video, I'm pretty sure you will be fine though.

Ozzy showed you the best thing possible..
exactly what will happen.. short and fat..lol..
stick to 4:3 at that resolution.

if you get the black boxes so what..
at least your not looking at short fat people..
they will look like normal people do..
That squishing effect is not pretty by any means.
youtube gets what you give it..
you give it 4:3 it gets 4:3.

go 4:3.
