Choices choices (monitor paraphernalia)

Hi everyone! Although not too active on posting, I'm reading TPU a lot so I'd be more than happy if you share your opinion on my little dilema. So here it is - I'm planning on upgrading my poor Samsung SyncMaster 2253bw to an ultrawide 1440p (3440x1440). My current setup is (may be I should update my profile so I don't have to post it like this... some day):
CPU - 3570k 4.5Ghz coupled with Noctua U14S
GPU - MSI 970 100ME
MOBO - ASRock Z77 Extreme 4
PSU - Seasonic Prime 750w
RAM - kingston hyperx savage 2x8gb 1866mhz
SSD - adata xpg sx910

For now I'm considering the acer x34a. The thing is that in my opinion it'll go best with a 1080ti which is not available in my country yet and I prefer to get one with a partner's cooling instead of buying a FE and adding a custom cooler to it (I love quietness). So until it's available I guess my GTX 970 might be fine, but from the research I've done all games' frame rate would be halved and I'm currently playing Warhammer Vermintide which drops to about 50ish fps at places and I'm already playing it at medium settings so I'm a bit hesitant on getting the monitor without having the GPU power. I'm guessing the 1080ti would be available in a few weeks to a month from now.
On the other hand a month from now is month May at the end of which we might start seeing the VEGA, which might turn out to be good (although everyone are sceptical if it can beat the 1080ti), but at least they might affect prices or be good enough for my 1440p gaming (I'm also coding, web designing etc., but this doesn't require much gpu power). Not to mention that monitors with freeSync are cheaper although some say the technology is not as good as the gsync. The thing is that if I start waiting for the next best thing to come, a better monitor might show up (x34p is scheduled for end of the year as far as I know) in a few months from now and the waiting will be endless. So overall I'm wondering between these:
1. Get the predator x34a now and go with my 970 until I can swap it with 1080ti
2. Wait until I get a 1080ti and then get it and the predator x34a together
3. Wait until VEGA is released and make a decision then.
4. (open to suggestions)

I'm not in a rush to upgrade or something, I just want to avoid that point where you wait for the best setup forever, although if there's a good time to wait and see what will come next, it might be now and that's why I'm asking. Thanks guys!

If you can wait, wait for VEGA, especially when in the market for the top end. There is a chance you will have more options, which will also make the FreeSync route viable for your intended performance level. When the upgrade urge hits you hard, just focus on the monitor for now, because that's a meaty project in itself as there are tons of options these days.

Other considerations:

- Personal, but still: Gsync / FreeSync are not worth additional investment. If you have to hand in on other monitor features that you want, then put Gsync at the bottom of the priority list. It is always preferable to tweak games to stick to a stable FPS, and sync features will not allow you to use things like strobing backlight to reduce motion blur (which is definitely preferable to syncing).
- If you spend this kind of money on a monitor, consider VA over IPS, VA works very nicely with a curved display and has much higher static contrast, can also do 144hz
- 100hz on this x34a, is nice, but there are better options at this price level. There are also many more cost effective options monitor wise. I really don't see what warrants the high price tag on this one.
- 1900R curve is pretty serious, test it before you buy it, because it seriously screws up geometric shapes
- For this res I'd definitely recommend 1080ti performance level for GPU

Another idea may be to test several monitors at home for a few days, if you have that option. Specs on a monitor don't say too much, and especially in the case of IPS, I'd have a good look at whether IPS glow will not annoy the hell out of you, although with such an expensive IPS that might not be an issue.
