hi guys please help.
if i try and play cod4 or cod5 with either windows xp 32bit or vista home premium 32bit i get alot of glitching in game a bit like the glitch/stutter u get when u 1st join the server, some servers r better than others and i have a good spec pc and good internet 8mb connect and about half a mile from the exchange.
this is the strange thing....
when i borrow my friends version of windows vista ultimate 64bit these games work perfect i mean yes i get the odd glitch here and there but its so much smoother with this and i dont believe its cos 64bit uses all 4gig of ram cos i have friends with less spec pc's than mine that dont get this problem.
my spec is
asus p5b wifi deluxe
bfg gtx260 maxcore
intel q6600 2.4ghz
2x2gig ocz reaper pc6400
corsair hx620w psu
creative x-fi fatality
samsung 750gig.
any ideas anyone ?
ive used lots of different drivers and get the same problem with all.

one possible solution to COD 4, change mssmp3.asi to mssmp3.bak in the miles folder, but make a backup of the .asi so you can restore in event of game failing. I also believe that since you have 4GB of ram Vista 32 cant address all of it properly so you only really are able to address 3.25GBs, which any 32bit OS limit is without inobvious code modifications to the core of the OS memory management system. I also believe that MS took time on Vista64 where they just slapped together Vista 32.

what is that file u want me to change ? i mean what does it do ?
also i dont think the jerky stuttering is to do with less ram being used cos i have friends on 32bit that have less spec pc and the same that dont get this problem and if i play single player it is smooth a smooth can be :)
and i also get this if i format my hard drive and install windows and cod 4 is the 1st thing i put on so its not other software causing it.

Borrow your friends Vista Ultimate disc and install Home Premium x64, your CD key for Home Premium 32-bit will allow you to install the 64-bit version as well.

That won't fix the problem with 32-bit, but it'll allow you to use all 4GB of your RAM, and as you'll be using 64-bit the problem won't happen :)

32bit windows still doesnt utilize the ram properly beyond 3.25GBs, MS just provided a View Patch so you get the impression that the OS utilizes all 4 GBs when it actually doesnt.
