Hi,

Can you guys please give me your opinion about these 2 videocards. The difference doesnt seem to big to me so I'm not sure if I will gain that much more with the new card. Also because "back in the day" my old videocard was way more expensive than this new one. That's why I thought let's ask the people who actually know what they're talking about. :)

my old card:

my new card:

memory seems about equal, gpu clock of the new card is lower..

so please tell me, if the new one is actually better and if so, will it be much better?

Thanks in advance!

the 6850 is like 1.5 to 2 times faster

I'd say that 1.5-2x would be accurate also, not to mention using half the power in the process, it's s solid upgrade.

Depends on what card it is really. Could be 20 vs 30FPS as well.

Judging by the clocks, it's a 4890. Small, but OK performance upgrade and indeed, uses way less power, so less heat en probably less noise as well.

Having used both cards I disagree, and Crysis at 1680x1050 is an awful example. ( Infact I've used the entire 4800 series of cards, and the 6800 series of cards XD)

To the OP, the 6850 is a great upgrade, and they perform a LOT better with an overclock.

Also they over clock very nicely!

Although if you can stretch to a 7850 I'd go for that instead, absolute monster lil cards that over-clock like demons : ]

I'm not sure if it was just this one card, but a powercolor 6850 I used after a 100mhz increase on gpu and memory actually got a huge performance increase especially in directx 11, I'm thinking there was some memory bottleneck or something. who knows!

Actually i have made myself a test with 4850 in my pc and what i got was a 35% faster 6770, against a 512mb one. So normally the results are crappy, but really 6850 is much faster than the one i have so it will be between 50%-100% increase.
Based on my result, of course.

I use 2 years back a hd4850, last year I replace with hd6850, I feel the difference, but it is not 2x faster, and for my the change was worth....

i went from Crossfired 4850 512MB to a 6870 and the difference was noticeable for me, mind you having a 1GB card was the biggest difference.
