Compatibility

Yes. Brand does not normally affect compatibility.

However, an old motherboard might not support a modern card - BIOS can be updated for those circumstances.

Check motherboard specs and product support from Gigabyte's site to see what GPUs are supported.

Is a gigabyte motherboard comparable with a asus or msi graphics card.
That's what the ATX Form Factor standard is all about. It lets us put that Gigabyte board and MSI graphics card in a Fractal Design mid-tower ATX case, use Corsair RAM, a WD and a Seagate hard drives along with a Samsung SSD powered by an EVGA power supply and connect them to a Viewsonic and a Benq monitors and expect them all to work!

But note that's for PCs. Sadly, there is no such standard for notebooks. :(

As pointed out, brands don't matter.

However, as we know nothing about your motherboard, it's hard to say what it'll work with.
If it's at least from 2005 of later, then it should have a PCI Express x16 slot for the graphics card, unless it's some budget board.
As long as you have one of those, it should work with most graphics cards sold today. That said, again as per above, there might be some other limitations if you have older hardware. If your motherboard is less than 6-7 years old, it should work with just about anything out there.
