"The original design document of the classic game Deus Ex has appeared online. The papers describe from beginning to end what was the original vision of the designers of the game. In addition, the pages contain handwritten annotations of chief designer Warren Spector.

As already known, the game was called at this early stage of development Shooter: Majestic Revelations. The 64-page document mentions as one of the first things that the game should come with the 1998 Christmas market. The game was eventually released and a half years later, what is no surprise. The game was already known that the development has not been without a struggle. However, many cases are eventually referred entered the game.

What was not in the final game, for example, a final chapter that takes place in a space station. Also planned a cooperative multiplayer mode, but has ultimately not achieved. Also notable is that the player first option was to get to play the game in third person view, which was not in the final game. The document addresses more reasonable depth the entire game from start to finish.

The manuscript of Warren Spector is quite difficult to read. The person who has the document on Reddit posted , says work on transcripts of notes. They are not finished yet.

In addition to the design doc are also similar documents published on a third Deus Ex game, and a fourth Thief game. These games are ultimately not in the described form, such as Ion Storm saw before him released. The third Deus Ex and Thief are the fourth or released in some form and have been the work of Eidos Montreal, which took over the baton from original developer Ion Storm.

The document was made public in pieces in the past. As published Eurogamer an article in 2013 which contained a total of six pages of the document. The author of that article, Joe Martin, if not then publish everything, but that's obviously changed. At the request of the Redditgebruiker Martin has released the full version.

Deus Ex came in 2000 and was a hybrid of first person shooter and role playing game. The designers wanted to explicitly give the player as much freedom as possible to solve problems in their own way. At almost every point in the game, players can choose to reach their goal by sneaking, shooting, negotiate, hacking, or a combination thereof. Until today, many gamers still look back positively on the now sixteen year old game. The franchise today is still alive and has recently taken its newest title, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided churned.

This was and still is THE BEST genre game ever. I challenge anyone to say otherwise. With proofs.

A matter of taste, but for me also FPS + RPG + singleplayer make the best experience, Deus Ex series, Stalker series but the future is multiplayer/co-op. Singleplayer games are a dying breed.

Single player games are not a dying breed. There are many games that I've never even played online. For example, Battlefield 3 and 4 as well as all CoD's apart from 1 and 2 which I played for a short time with a clan and in local LAN party events. These games have online mode and I haven't ever even touched it.

I do play online games though, but a very select bunch. Mostly Killing Floor 2 and Natural Selection 2. Very team work focused games that require some thinking.

The games like Witcher, Mass Effect, Mafia, GTA, Doom, Assasin's Creeds, etc, do not agree :) :)

Planscape:Torment > Dues Ex as a matter of taste over FPS's

Sorry but CSGO>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DEUS EX.

Is actually difficult.. requires actual tactics and team work... Is actually designed better.

Power of opinion.

So CSGO, that receives constant updates as of now in 2016, is better than a game released in 2000?

Deus Ex was epic for the time, and is still epic today.

Edit - LOL GO was released in 2012. You cannot honestly compare the two games, at all...

That's like saying ... a GTX1080 is better than a Saab 99 Turbo at climbing trees. Or that WoW is better than Warcraft 2 at massaging your back. Also you are so wrong it hurts.

Have the original and invisible war in my library, yet have only played all the way through Human Revolution and missing link. Have a hard time playing more than few minutes of the first mission. Hitman series is the same for me. Sounds great but have a hard time getting into it.
