Well, i bought a Connect 3d x800GTO on the 13th from Ebuyer and will be installing it in a whole new system on the 25th / 26th. I was happy to see this card was unlockable to 16 pipelines but after reading about the failures, my happyness diminished.

If i attempt to flash it, and it doesnt work, whats the consequences. Do i just flash the original BIOS back and itll work? I read that if it fails to unlock after flashing the new BIOS, you wont be able to see anything on your monitor, so you cant flash back to the old BIOS.

Thanks for any replys.

First think that you should do to check if your cards pipelines are unlockable. To do so, visit thread X800 fuses data, or post here your fuses data (launch AtiTool, hold down shift key, click Settings, release shift, post here all line including word fuses). According to your fuses data I can tell you if you will be able to unlock pipes.

Rite, got my new pc up and running, no problems. Except that when i try to activate/register windows xp home i get the message that this copy has been installed to many times and i must phone them.

Bottom 4 lines (fuses data).

CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xEFF37FFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFF7IE
CONFIG_ROM_FUSES 0x861
GB_PIPE_SELECT 0x227A4

This means it isnt moddable doesnt it?

The 7IE should be 7IF?

Yes this one is not modable. :(
Try to find max overclock rates using AtiTool and you will get the same performence boost as if you unlock the pipes.

Hehe I had this problem once, I phoned them:

MS Guy: "How many computers is this installed on?"
Me: "uhh... one?"
MS Guy: "alright here's your code"

It was pretty funny imho.
