Naturally, i tried googling, but the answer wasn't that easy to locate, it seems....

As far as I know you can only do this to get a mirrored display by using a splitter. If you want independently usable displays you can install another card but thats it.

Probably too late to invest as I'm assuming you already have the monitors, but maybe look into getting MST supporting monitors. (Multi-Stream Transport) You can daisy chain up to 4 monitors off of a single displayport according to a quick google search. I did two monitors (Dell U2415) at work, works really well. Amazing how much it reduces cable clutter.

Are you mirroring or using them all as one big desktop? Most gpus go up to 3-4 on one card. If you can support a low end card for extra ports, use the igpu, or get a USB connector that would work. We need all your use case info.

Assuming this is the GTX 970 in your specs, 4 is the maximum:

There's several options, depending on the bandwidth requirements:
1) use onboard graphics (if your motherboard and CPU support it).
2) if there's not much going on with one of the monitors, you can use a USB display adapter (Plugable example)
3) install another graphics card in the system (need available slot and adequate power supply)

#1 looks like a viable solution for you:
your motherboard has VGA + DVI-D + HDMI
your CPU supports all three simultaneously

So assuming all of this hardware is in your computer and your computer is the one you're asking about, then you can support up to 7 displays right now.
