Connecting a old dell computer to a television

hello, i'm trying to connect my old dell computer to a television, but i have no idea how to do that, i researched through google and found something call "s-video" but i have no idea if the computer video drivers support that. the video driver is Intel 82865G Graphics Controller, i think this the onboard video. thank you for the help.
 
If your computer supports it, there should be a port that looks like a PS/2 one for keyboards, but with a rectangle system with an arrow coming out of it for a symbol. PS/2 will not fit in it. Just get an s-video cable and plug it into your TV. The plug is likely to be available for you. If you have an HDTV it would be better to just get whatever your graphics card supports for your monitor and plug that in directly for the best picture quality because s-video sucks.

Can you give any details on the DELL ?( like is there a AGP slot on the motherboard). S-video quality can be really bad some times depending on the v card or\and drivers used. Typically seen are lines ( 2 normally ) moving though the screen but for a example my 7200GS shows s-video real well and better than most i've seen.

And is there a s-video connector on your TV ?. S-video quality is good depending on the user. It's fine for more it does it's job very well all though HD and what not do not attract me even more so when it comes to internet TV as it's normally less than 2Mbs as it's fairly rare at 2Mbs even but then you might( depends on hardware and driver compatibility ) need a system upgrade for that kinda of quality which to me is not worth the cost.

How ever my old P4 2.4 GF400 handles 2Mbs with out issue.

Another thought is you might be better off disabling the onboard card and getting a PCI video card with a s-video connection on it all though this depends on how old this DELL is.

What's the model number of the computer? My guess is that it doesn't have S-Video or Composite (just VGA D-Sub 15) so you'll have to put a video card in if you want to display it on a TV.

You'll have to get a gfx card for it for sure. You can find some for really cheap on Newegg depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

thanks, but i just don't know what type of a PCI video card will the mobo support.

would these cards do the trick?
1 or 2
 
2400pro or a 9400GT

Does your computer have an s-video port on it, If so you should be able to connect to TV provided you may have to update your video drivers. It should be doable.
