Connecting to the Wi-Fi via a dongle or a network card?

As the title suggests, my dongle has finally given up the ghost and died (rebuilding my computer!) and it's time to replace the sucker.
A dongle USB adapter is generally cheaper, but I feel that a PCI with antennas may be better?

Any one have any thoughts on this? I have about £20 to spend on this aspect of my build. May be higher if someone can convince me that a higher cost = a much higher user experience.

Personally, I use/used the onboard WIFI of the past 3 motherboards (MSI Z68A GD80, ASUS X79 Deluxe, ASUS X79 Rampage IV Black Edition) I've had with good results.

In my experience the larger the dongle the better. Edimax are pretty good.

You can get tiny little dongles ive tried a couple and they are rubbish.


Cards with 2 aerials work better than those with just one.

I always used a wired connection to insrall the latest drivers when installing card or dongle.
