They have one up, the x6800 but they dont have it officially all linked up yet, you have to search conroe to get to the page, the category intel-processors doesn't list it yet.

For a $1,359.99 Price tag, no Thanks!!

isent the conroe 6600 like -$400, with its 2.2mhz 4k fsb.

my whole system I want costs as much as that processor.

mhz? LOL I think now xD 4k fsb? na... it's 1066... uhhh I think the 6600 is like 2sometihng or 3 someting

Imo

Who the hell is going to spend $1400 for a CPU?

The other things that bug the hell out of me...........

The only test results we have seen have been engineering samples. I really haven't paid much attention because of that, but none of the overclocking records that have been posted are REAL WORLD STUFF!! They are all marketing hype and nothing more.

One more thing......what kind of overclocking headroom do you have with a 1066 fsb unless you buy a motherboard for $300 or more?

So let's see...$1400 for the cpu......$300 for the motherboard.......

I DON"T THINK SO INTEL!!!!!

Uhh many of people have reached SUB 10 SECOND SPEED in superpi with RETAIL!

they are in the news area

Link me to more than one person reaching 9.xx on a RETAIL conroe... I dont buy that cj.

I agree there is a lot of hype about the Conroe, but it remains to be seen how much is true. I'm waiting for RETAIL benchmarks, reviews, oh yeah... and price drop

As for overhead to OC the Conroe: iirc Conroe's are still quad-pumped, so at 1066MHz you are only at 266.5FSB. Many reasonably priced boards that take Conroe's (including mine, though I wouldn't recommend it) go up to 340FSB and well over that. So if one was able to use a 340FSB you would effectively be at 1360FSB, so I would consider that quite a bit of overhead. Not sure how the multiplier works with the Connie's though..... anyone?

Well I never considered a VIA chipset was an alternative. But I would have to admit that is a very versatile board.

That is another example of how the hype around the conroe just can't be trusted. They have driven that market frenzy to make everyone think that the only thing you can run them on is 975 chipset. I imagine there are tons of boards out there that will run conroe with just a bios update.

I think the truth about all this will shake out in about 6 months to a year. By then Intel will be strangling on their overpriced cpu and there will be lots of affordable hardware to run it on. Until then, I am waiting for my new cpu to get me by. I bought a P4 560J to replace my 520J. The 560J in my hardware should easily run 4.25hgz on air. And since it only cost me $100.......i think there will be a lot of cold days in hell before i pay for a conroe.

jajaja :S, 2.2 ghz and 4k L2 cache. thats a decent price for a nice processor.

It's 4mb l2 cache :) 1066Mhz FSB 2.4Ghz for the E6600 I believe (not shure)
And they took it off the listing again :(

www.tigerdirect.ca has them :D. But you have to do a search for core 2 duo. They do seem to be a bit overpriced right now though. But if you actually think about what your getting its actually not all that bad.

Tigerdirect.com has them and you dont have to search, and they have mobo bundles WOOT

They'll have buyers...

P.S.=> I'm NOT one of those folks incidentally... apk
