Core i5 480M modding to Core i5 580M

Since when does Turbo mode require drivers? Afaik (and my i-series knowledge is limited to the early i7 920's) Turbo mode is something set in BIOS, and I don't remember being able to set the multiplier for Turbo mode at all.

So, short answer, no.

as far as I'm aware that can't be done, which is a pity because I bet your chip is capable of such speeds. I had a 540M and on high power laptop settings it stayed constantly at 2.93ghz (both cores) instead of ~2.5ghz.

best of luck trying though, but yeah I'm not sure you can trick a CPU into being a model that it isnt just through drivers...

I checked everything. Turbo mode needs special software. But all drivers are same (all cpu uses same software). So can I overclock pc using turbo boost technology (simply oc raise up standard 2,67GHz clock but not 2,93 GHz clock which is available only in turbo mode)

This is likely not going to work, even with "special software". Intel CPUs are, for the most part, locked down hard. You may manage to overclock the CPU with software (laptop BIOS'es very rarely have such an option), but you won't be able to turn on a turbo boost feature that is locked off in the CPU. Even if you do get it working, you will likely have heat issues, which is what the earlier post was referring to "Crashed", not making fun of your name.

overlocking laptops 80% of the time ends in fail or melted components
