That should work rather nicely! One thing I would check is what tweaking options your Dell BIOS has. Do you know how to access that?

what do you mean by tweaking? And know not realy sure how to chek the bios out. lol

Well, on my Dell Laptop, when you see the Dell logo, I keep pressing F2 until it says "Entering Setup." If you haven't messed with a BIOS before, then you might not want to worry about it. It can get really confusing.

The reason I ask is without messing with the BIOS, you might not get the exact timings that the ram you've selected has. That's probably fine, though. You should be good with that RAM, as long as it's not expensive. How much are you going to pay for it?

i allready have it but when i put it in and boot up all i get is a beep code and a black screen

We're gonna have to go into your BIOS then. I don't have any experience with Dell BIOSes. Anyone else here have a Dell? /shout. :D

I would google your Dell system's part number and "BIOS" and see if you can find some screenshots of the BIOS.

Do you have another computer besides that one?

nope just this dell junk lol

And a question i know my bios is made or from Phoenix Technologies were do i find this number you speak of?

You know anybody locally that might be able to help you out?

It's tough without the system in front of me, ya know? Dells work a lot differently than other computers. And Dell might have locked your system out from using other types of ram. Manufacturers sometimes do that so they can make bank on their parts.

were can i find the system's part number ? and if thats so about dell blocking out the parts im going to be pissed lol

Probably on a sticker on the back of the PC.

Steveo21, this is the third thread you have made on this same topic. Please pick a thread and stick with it.

Kreij, actually the first two threads were about the problem im haveing with the ram. this started as is it the right ram. ne who i can get to the bios settings when i get there how do i configure the timings?

1 question when i reboot and F2 into the menu . under memory options i see... system speed-333MHz...System memory chanle-single... and AGP Apeture is set to 128 and can be set to 32,64 or 256 dose this help ne?
