Hello everyone

I have finally managed to convince my boss that my 6 year old computer should be replaced.
I am looking into a 5900X build from two system builders, but I am unsure about the case. One is offering the Antec P10 Flux while the other has the Corsair 4000D Airflow.
I know they target different audience, but I am unsure if I should go quiet with Antec or performance with Antec. The test of both cases shows a significant lower CPU temperature with Corsair and it even has few fans.

400D Airflow all the way. The ease of building (including cable mgmt) is stellar.

Looking at the test of the P10 on TPU, which also has the 4000D airflow, the difference in CPU temp is 3C, and GPU temp is less than 1C. Such a marginal difference isn't really worth thinking all that much about since none of them have an issue with thermals to start with.
The P10 set to low is significantly quieter however, if that is of any importance.

I agree that Antec is only marginally worse than Corsair, but what I notice is that Antec uses 5 fans to reach these temperatures while Corsair only uses 2 fans.
You can get a 5 pack 140mm Artic P14 fans cheap, so I was thinking that if I replaced the case fans on Corsair then it would be even more superior.

Sure, but again, does it matter? Is it worth thinking about if none of them have any thermal problems with the system in question to which one is a degree or two better? Depends a lot from person to person.

Personally what matters to me is good use of filters that are easy to reach and clean, which reduces inside dust collection by a lot, and how quiet it is. Not that noise matters a lot too me but I rather have something a bit less noisy if I can choose. It is for me after all a tool, sitting in a corner under a bench, never to see the light of day unless its an upgrade or something is wrong. Not something I have placed on a desk and look at day in and day out, though that would probably drive me insane if I have to look at the dust layering on over time.

Or perhaps, do they both have support for whatever hardware you might wish to include in the future? 2.5/3.5" slots, 5.25" etc. rather than something being a degree cooler.

If anything I would probably switch cooler before I get concerned with chassi airflow for most systems, since that will make a much larger difference. Unless its a really terrible case for airflow in general that is, but none of them seem to be that.

The system builder I am leaning to offers a Thermalright Macho Rev. B for 5900X. The only alternatives are Corsair A500 and Thermalright Macho Rev. C.
I am actually considering to go for Rev. C instead of Rev. B simply because there is additional tool to apply a second fan and the difference is just 3 dollars.
Corsair A500 is 50 dollar more expensive than Rev. C.

I’d go with the 4000D and Rev C cooler. A500 is overpriced junk.

I appreciate Antec trying new things these days but they’re still a decade behind in case design (what is the P10 but a P180... 7?). There’s a reason it needs more fans to compete with cases that ship with two or three — the door, the dense filter, the small vents... Just an updated blast from the past.

Thank you for all your advice.
Only the system builder with Antec P10 Flux has the 5900X ready for delivery, but they offered I could send them another case if I wanted that.
I spend a hour thinking and I ended up ordering a Corsair 4000D with delivery to the system builder.

It annoys me that the P10 Flux is not better with 5 fans, it might be quieter, but even-though I have my own office, the door is usually open and I can hear people talk and walk around.
Another annoying point is the crazy focus on intake. 4 intake fans vs. 1 exhaust fan. I might not be an expert, but I can not imagine how that is not resulting in restricting the airflow.
4000D is also more quiet at idle and since most of my work is based on peak load, write code and compile, then I don't mind a little noise while I wait for it to finish compiling.
P10 Flux is also non-pwm. Should I switch profile between performance and quiet then I would manually have to pres the button every single time.
I have a box with 5 unused Artic P12 PWM fans from a scrapped project, so my plan is to install 3 of them as intake and 2 as exhaust on 4000D and set the BIOS to a silent profile. That should result in good thermal performance and quiet operation when not compiling.

I currently own a 4000D Airflow, a Lian Li Lancool II mesh and a Phanteks Eclipse P500a. The Lian Li is the best by a fair margin in terms of build quality and slightly better than both other cases in terms of airflow. The 4000D is a close second in both build and airflow. The Phanteks is a close third in airflow, but a distant third in overall build quality. Cable management in all three is very good.
One note on what I like best with the Corsair that I haven't seen before. Instead of having to take off the whole front bezel to access the fans or fan filters, you can just take off the front metal mesh plate which is held on by fairly strong magnets. It makes it so much easier to keep the front fans and filter clean.

Not to get too far off topic, but what issues have you had with the build quality of the P500A? Just curious

Thank you for the feedback. I am now more confident that I made the right decision. Lian Li is much more expensive than Corsair, so it seems it hit a fine balance.
My only irritation is the glass panel but luckily it is heavy tinted :D

Much thinner metal all over. Shockingly so. I haven't actually weighed any of the cases, but I'd swear the Lian Li weighs at least 30-40% more and the front and back panels on the Phanteks has far more flex and clearly thinner. They don't feel like they belong in the same price range yet there is just $10 between the cases. That said, I still like the design of the 500A. The build quality is just not there compared to the Corsair or the Lian Li.

I mean if it's for a work machine I would want the P10 -- less chance of spills crap getting into it etc. I don't like vented tops and tons of openings for work rigs, front mesh is fine but these cases that have an open panel between your coffee and your hardware worry me.

It is a valid concern. I had a laptop on my desk for 6 years so I am not really concerned about that. My desk is very very large.
So the is no spill that can reach it and furthermore will the computer be at my left side. Glass and cups are always at my right side :)

Gotcha. I felt the same way comparing my brother's H510 my to Meshify C. Granted, the price difference between the two is greater than the difference between the P500A and Lancool II Mesh, but I was surprised at how flimsy the H510 felt given how popular it is.
