Could my old memory be sorta defeating a purpose?

Ok so here is my question....

A while back (probably 6 months or so) i got some memory off of newegg to update my rig.

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ

Ok, pretty strait forward right? Well i have that right now in my machine WITH my other sticks of memory that came with the rig (stock)

So is the old memory actually slowing performance? Since the clock speeds are different.

Is this one of those cases where my 4 gigs of memory would be about the 6 gigs?

Thanks!

Is the ram in the rig that was the stockers run at 800mhz with similar timings and voltage?

Ok so after doing a little bit of searching i am almost the timings are the same. As well as the voltages. So I'm guessing that the setup as of right now should be alright?

same speed as well?

If the speed is the same along with the timings and volts, there really shouldn't be a slowdown unless the NB is struggling to control that amount of ram. Usually a slight increase in the NB/memory controller voltage will fix any lag or stutter you might be seeing.

Not seeing any lag. Then again i havnt had JUST the g skill in. Should all be good then.

if you have different speed the faster ram will follow the slower ram.
i agree try to raise the voltage little bit sometimes it solves the problem

I say the same as micropage7. Anyway its the only blue bird wearing WW2 helmet and gogles that i listen to.
