So I bought a new CPU, Ryzen 5 5500 and my motherboard didn’t support it.
So I went and bought a new one today, B450 Vhd max pro.
The guy in the shop told me it was okay with the cpu, and just stuck another cpu in there to get it to the required bios I needed to run the cpu.
Anyway, my cpu was in the case in my room and it was on the floor with 3 bent pins, I’ve straighter them out with a razor blade.
I’m getting power to the system my lights work on my mouse and keyboard etc.
But I get no image, not to mention the CPU light on my board.

could anyone help me here? I can’t afford to replace parts or pay someone to fix it, I’ve just had a child and have no money what so ever.
(The board was a Xmas present what I picked up today)
You

Can you make a clear picture of the pins of the CPU which felt on the ground?
What brand and model is your old motherboard?

My old morherboard was ASUS prime 320 M-K.
And this is the best pic I could get.
My camera is a bit dodgy

You could have done a bios update upfront on the Asus PRIME A320M-K motherboard before inserting the new processor.
Support for Ryzen 5 5500 was added in bios version 6042

What is the model of processor you are trying to insert into the MSI B450M PRO-VDH Max motherboard?

Well the thing is, I tried to get it to 6042 but I can only get to 5606 any after that it just says I’m proper bios.
And the cpu now is a Ryzen 5 5500, the old one was A10-9700.
But the pins are gone on that, I dropped that a while ago, hence the new CPU.

This cpu is not supported on the MSI motherboard. AMD dropped Bristol Ridge support when it released newer processors.
Does the processor still work on the old motherboard?

5606 was the latest version which still had A10-9700 support on the Asus motherboard. Therefore you couldn't update with the Asus software.

Do you have a dedicated graphics card since Ryzen 5 5500 has no integrated graphics.

I’ve always had the one graphics card that’s the GTX 960.
I’ve also tried to put the CPU into my old motherboard and that boots up but still no display.

Good to know you have a graphics card.

The A10-9700 is likely dead due electrostatic discharge when fixing it.

Do you know someone who has a 1xxx, 2xxx, 3xxx Ryzen processor since you a supported processor to perform the flash on both motherboard

By 1xxx 2xxx 3xxx you mean gens?
And no I’ve asked around and no one has, the the shop I bought it from said they put it in the same cpu I had to do the bios updates, I think it was F51, I can’t remember.
And said now it should be good to go from the box.
So I don’t know what to do anymore, I even dug out the other board and tried that, it’s the same thing, I’m just thinking he gave me the wrong box now.

Yes, like Ryzen 1600, 2600 or 3600 for example

MSI B450M PRO-VDH-MAX needs bios version which was released after 2022-01-17.
So if it was on their stock for almost 2 years, it could have an unsupported bios version.

Oh, well the guy at the shop said he updated bios before handing it over, well anyway I managed to fix the cpu, so there is not light in the board at all.

Where did you buy the motherboard? Maybe we can advice a beter alternative?

Uk store called Falcon computers in Sunderland

I’ve got the boot light now, I’ve replaced sata cables to but still nothing

If returning is possible get the Gigabyte A520M K. That board supports the Ryzen 5 5500 out of the box and is a little cheaper as well :)

I might take my cpu in as well cause I think when I bent the pins and sorted them out I think it’s got something to do with the cpu, but I’m not sure about that or the whole pc won’t boot up?

The pins on the A10-9700 were bent right? That processor will not work on boards with recent bios since Bristol Ridge support is dropped.
