I was looking at an i7 10700 since it's not that expensive new and i need in the near future a new cpu + a new msi z490 tomahawk is also not that expensive but very good.

Passmark, cpubenchmark.net is saying single core perfomance is better on my ryzen 5600 than a i7 10700 but when it comes to multicore it's not just a little better but scores alot higher, cpu-z say the 10700 has higher multicore as well as cinebench r23, single core 1337 multi core with things running in the background 10048 vs 1255 and 12350 for the 10700.

What can i trust when comparing performance between cpu's ? According to Passmark, cpubenchmark.net in multi core my ryzen 5600 should be superior to the 8 core i7 10700

Your 5600 is fine.. this would be a sidegrade at best

Im not saying it's for me

Intel's multi-core scaling is generally not as good as Zen 2/3 in a lot of productivity workloads and benchmarks, before E-cores came along. Part of it is probably architectural, part of it probably due to the clock differential between single core and all-core on most stock Intel CPUs 8th gen and later.

Without high enough clocks, 8th-10th gen are weak. Zen 2 already was able to beat it on raw IPC in numerous areas, let alone Zen 3. The only saving grace is the clock scaling that allows just about anyone to run 5GHz all-core. No surprise then, that a locked 10700 isn't a benchmark monster.

No one who wants to be taken seriously uses Passmark to gauge hardware. CPU-Z is a good quick reference but not a very reliable benchmark. Run some R23 for some ST and MT numbers.

I trust TPU and that's about it.
