I have supermicro x8dtfi. CPU2 and its ram dimms dont work. The processor heats up slightly. What should I check on the motherboard?

Power supply and all its connections that plug in to the motherboard.

Test the CPU in CPU2 is working then take all the ram modules out but leave one just to make sure it can boot.

Thanks, I've already done this. The processor works fine,as well as ram. PC usually make "beeps" in the case when there are no modules on the slots,but now PC dont even recognize it. 100% that the problem is related to power supply. Btw PC can boot without cpu2.

If I'm understanding this correctly, you said you already know it's a PSU issue so..... Replace the PSU, simple as that.

However if not then look in the BIOS and make sure everything is OK there, if you have to set it up with it's default settings and try it. Also make sure the RAM slots on the board are clean to ensure a good connection to the gold fingers on your sticks - And make sure these on the sticks too are clean.
Get the board's manual and use that to be sure to use that as a reference, could be something as simple as a jumper out of place. Even though it's not that old of a board it probrably has one or two on it, if it does and it affects multi-CPU useage you'd need to set that back in place.

I can't really see how this can be a power supply problem, we're just talking about booting up here how much load can that put on the PSU.

It's lga1366. He probably is using a cpu without the neccesary second QPI link for Multiprocessor functions. Several were made.

Without knowing the cpu we can only speculate.

Usually need matched pairs of cpu.

Even a matched cpu on lga1366 without two qpi links simply won't work in MP mode.

@Gskmoss
So what cpus are you using...?
