 i heard problems with crysis + 64bit and now that i am using 64bit, wow i am so shocked  , but kinda pissed

So i install crysis, click on crysis64bit.exe, black screen, no game.
Any ideas?

When i played crysis on 32bit, no problems. I never did install any patches either, so is there a 64bit only crysis patch i need to download?

Did you do a clean install before moving to x64?
Check presence of all drivers, especially chipset.

Download the necessary patches.
My game never functioned right (especially graphically) without them.

I never tried it on 32 bit but without the patches it wouldn't work on 64 bit irrespective of which graphics card I had at the moment.

Make sure to install crysis under the 64 bit windows. Use the 64 bit executable to run it, I run both crysis and warhead under both xp64 and win7 x64, works perfect.

alright let me reinstall and install the patches, feedback later.
peace

ive run the 32 bit all the time on a 64bit OS. no issues.

Still doesn't work, ugh. And you can't install crysis into the program files folder, i did, but for some reason it install back to the program files(x86) folder. I install the patches, click on crysis64bit.exe and i tried crysis.exe and nothing is working.

My goodness , never had any trouble at all like this on 32bit :shadedshu

You should just run the 32 bit version, I had the same problem but I just ran 32 bit. I know crysis should install both the 64 and 32 bit exe's.

crysis.exe is the 32bit one. its just not working period for him

One of the guys asked if you installed a clean install of windows or an upgrade, could be the issue.

This is a clean install, and the crysis64bit.exe file is only what 52kb or something in size???????
Yes the 32bit version works just fine, however i want to play crysis in 64bit, but oh well. I am still going to try to work around it and see if i can get it too work.
peace

there;s no performance difference at all. wouldnt concern yourself with it

Alright thanks. I have to use a sound card tho, because i am getting that crackling, stuttering noise in crysis and in bioshock.

Hey u2k, what sort of performance are you getting? I'm currently playing through the game for the first time in its entirety and performance has been a bit hit and miss.

You want to know what kinda of performance i am getting on my current secondary rig?
System specs is in sig , i have crysis install on that. What kinda of performance i am getting on a Intel Pentium D 805, you won't believe me if i told you  , using my 9800gt on this system so it helps greatly. Keep in mind, i only game at 1280x1024.

I only game at 1280x1024 also at the minute. So what settings do you use and what sort of framerates are you getting? Just finished the game by the way, not bad but could have been better. Will try warhead in a couple of days.

I am playing this in 32bit even tho i have win764bit install and i notice i am getting much better performance with this rig using win64bit and by upgrading my PSU. At 1280x1024 with NO AA enable, all high spec settings i am getting between 45-70 frames easily. When fighting it drops down to 30. So between 30-45-70. I tested with AA, only drops about 5 frames. I also tested with All very high and i am getting a solid 25-40 frames with no AA.
I will post some screen shots and video later from my youtube page :)

I never finish the game, but i will soon, glad you are enjoying it. Also I have Warhead also, Warhead is less demanding, but watch out the first level or first beginning part of the level with warhead is very demanding.
