So my Corsair Performance Pro seemingly gave up the ghost the other day. Went to see how WCG was running and saw the computer was down for the last 4-5 days. I thought it was just locked up but when I tried to reboot I got those pesky boot errors and when I looked at the drive on my laptop the diagnosis was confirmed- its completely blank.

So, I figure the data has to be there and looked for a way to recover. I was able to use Disk Genius (FREE edition) and it found the two partitions on the drive (the main and default recovery) and all my files appear to be intact. In order to restore the partition table I have to unlock the standard version which is $70.

There is data I would like to recover, but not $70 worth of data, honestly. I'm wondering if anyone here knows of any free alternative to restoring this drive's partition table so I can get the handful of files I need.

Thanks for the assist, TPU! :toast:

I was definitely looking at those but there seems to be mixed reviews as far as legitimacy/malware is concerned. I wonder if partition magic or miniTool can be used for what I am doing?

I have been using Wise apps and find them to be very good. I have encountered no malware.
How to Use Wise Data Recovery to Recover Deleted Files

Portable Version Allows You to Avoid Data Overwriting
Wise Data Recovery also has a portable version, which means that you don’t have to install it, you can use it on your PC without writing to the hard drive. It is suggested you download the program on another computer, and move it to a flash drive. Then plug the flash drive into the PC with the missing files, and run it from there.

They even have a forum... in case you require it.

i've used both. I'm not a big fan of EaseUS, but I do still have AOMEI installed on my PC. Neither has malware, and I'm sure both are safe to use.
If you are too paranoid about this stuff, you may try live USB with TestDisk and Gparted, or re-create it manually in HEX editor :D.

Just Use UbuntU, down load it then make a sart up disc with it. Then boot off it, then you can see all files on main drive(no expense).

Haha, I still have the drive sitting in cold storage. Maybe I'll give Ubuntu a shot- well Linux anyway cause I have my USB setup with Mint. I'd this Ubuntu specific? More details?
