well, I already asked this in the past but I really want to get this solved out!

this time I will give you guys more info on my comp :)

I am overclocking my computer atm too so if you notice anything wrong with CPU's FSB or voltage please tell me. ( I also lowered the Ram frequency thing)

PS. oh ya and hte image lol

ok, first, are you sticks in the correct slots? check your manual, take a picture and post it, whatever, just you have to be sure sure sure, because sometimes you need them in the same colored slots, sometimes they have to be next to each other, it's different for every mobo

do that, and we'll take it from there

Its in Slot 1 and 2... says this in CPU and the sticks are next to each other in slot 1 and 2 as well. the system wont boot in ANY other formation

something tells me you will want me to test them seperatly, so I have already marked both RAMs with a sticker thats says 1 and 2 so I wont mix them up :)

smart :toast:

Got this from review of the board

Exploring the Expert's memory controller configuration with A64 Tweaker reveals that while timings are pretty tight overall, the idle cycle limit deviates quite a bit from the norm. The idle cycle limit refers to the number of clock cycles that a memory page can remain open without being accessed. Longer cycle time limits tend to favor streaming applications, and shorter limits yield better performance with more random access patterns. Most motherboards set the idle cycle limit around 16 clocks, but the Expert is set to a much higher 256 clocks.

While the Expert's longer idle cycle time and tighter overall timings yield faster memory performance than the competition, the more aggressive memory controller tuning isn't recommended for all memory modules. We tried several pairs of DIMMs with the board, and while low latency modules like Corsair's XMS Pro and OCZ's Platinum Rev 2 had no problems with the aggressive tuning, a pair of OCZ's Value Series DDR400 sticks consistently produced errors in Prime95. Not even the BIOS's optimized defaults were relaxed enough for the budget memory modules, and the board doesn't provide fail-safe defaults with more conservative timings.

In the end, we were able to get the Expert stable and error-free with our budget DIMMs by manually backing off memory timings in the BIOS. DFI has apparently elected to sacrifice broader compatibility in favor of faster performance with low latency modules, and for a high-end overclocking board like the Expert, that makes a certain amount of sense.

Might help some with your ram, noticed yours was set at 256.

this is uberly strange, but when I only put 1 RAM into slot 1, it comes up with error that windows/system24..blah...blah is damaged.

but then I add the other RAM into slot 2 and it boots just fine, wtf???

slot 2 and 4 wont even boot into BIOS

Try the modues first in the same colour DIMM slots, then alternate. If that doesnt work I would see about RMAing the board. DFIs have always been problematic in my experience (2 NF2s & 2 NF4s) Asus, Abit (intel only based boards) and higher end Gigabyte boards and the like offer vastly superior stability and I never found the boards to OC any less than on a DFI, in fact in most cases the hardware went further than it did on the DFI.

nope nothing boots.
but
I noticed this interesting thing in the Manual for hte MoBo.
(bios features settings)
"OS slecect for DRAM > 64MB
Select the "OS2" option only if the system that is running an OS/2 operating system has greater then 64MB RAM"

now seriously wtf why is this set to OS? do they expect people to have less then 64MB ram on this board?

I changed it to OS2 but the system still wont boot on 1,3 or 2,4 :(

System Memory

Channel A - DDR 1 and DDR 2
Channel B - DDR 3 and DDR 4

Think that is correct for your board, did you try slot 3&4??

EDIT:Never mind,read your post

that is very strange. i've heard of dfi boards being very finicky, but that's kind of ridiculous

iirc, there was somethign abotu putting in one stick, booting up, setting the bios to look for dual channle, and then powering off, putting in both sticks, and then it works. or something.... read that part of your manual manymany times, that should help (if you have it!)

What BIOS is the board using? If you havent already, start with the latest official BIOS and slowly work your way back until you find a BIOS that (hopefully) works as it should. Remember to remove your CMOS battery, power cord and set the CMOS jumper to the clear position after the flash(es) and leave for 2 mins. Dont load any pre-saved settings when you power back up either, you will only be loading old BIOS information, instead load optimized defaults then save and exit. Then reenter BIOS an start messing.

ok I will update the bios using winflash. so after I do that I have to turn the computer off, remove the battery and power cord and set teh CMOS jumper to clear??? wtf I never heared of that before

P.S.
Why the fuck is my FF reseted or something? I open it up and first thing that comes up is the adblock plus utility which asks me some Qs that it asks on the first use of it. and behind it stands the FF first time welcome screen. all my bookmarks are kaput too....WTF????

from a bios flash? WTF? have you tried 1/3 and 2/4?

I didnt flash anything yet, the FireFox thing happend after I just booted windows after trying several unsuccsesful attempts with different RAM postitionings...

and YES I have tried slots 1,3 a,d 2,4 read the thread lolz, if thats what you mean.

ok so I flashed it all and got hte newest stuff. theres a difference!! now when the RAMs are in different slots then 1,2 it BEEPS!!! like BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP_______________ BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

you didnt get your ram of ebay by anychance did you?

no its all new, I even got the waranty for it :)

Winflash is ok, but really you should be doing it from DOS with the following switches to ensure a proper flash; /py/sn/Wb/cd/cc/cp

does it really make THAT much of a difference? the sticks are still really weird.
should I maybe contact the store? they might exchange if for another pair of sticks from different make. they are great people I love the store :) as their sorry they will probably give me even more expensive RAM then this one

is this kingston value ram?..if so it will NOT work at all in dual channel mode on a DFI lanparty board ever...you can even give dfi a call and they will tell you that..dfi boards hate value ram..and i also see that you have my board..go into genie bios and set your pcie to x16..the expert board is the most finicky board you can ever buy from dfi..ive went through alot of ram trying to find some that would actually run,ive finally found myself buying some TCCD and it runs great up to DDR660..but ive tried alot of ram on the way to that including Infineon C5,Hynix D43,Micron 5BG,and someInfineon B5..the only thing i could ever get close to working was the infineon..but you cannot overclock with it..since you have the expert you should just find some tccd,tcc5,or bh-5 its the on stuff that works worth a damn...good luck,if you need anymore help with that board pm me and ill help you with what i know about that board

It is kingston RAM! damn! so there is a way to get in workin?

put one stick of ram in,go into bios set the command rate to 2T..then shut down the pc put the ram in the orange slots and boot it up..and good luck
