Dead Hard Drive? Windows won't boot? Related to second drive?

Ok, I'm freaking out, but will try and relate info.

So I wanted to save an IDE drive I had, so I popped it into my desktop a few days ago. It booted slow, and whne through that Windows consistancy check thing. OK. picked up a few dll and fixed it, it then became part of my compy. Then booting and everything was fine. I backed it up and all was good.

However, this morning I go to turn on my compy and I cant load Windows. I have no idea what is going On. I tried unplugging the second drive thinking it might be the culpret. Nope, I then try to boot agian in safe mode. But it locks up on the giveio.sys when I choose the safe mode option.

Holy Hell, can anyone help me?

EDIT: JUst as I hit send for this thread, safe mode finally loaded. This is very strange. I trying to load avast to get a virus scan going

Everything is on my System specs tab to the left. No changes at all just to reference it. Thanks for the reply too.

An update to. Virus found nothing, but when I went to reboot, it hangs in the bios testing on Detecting IDE Drives, it will sit there for 30 seconds or so and then take FOREVER it seems to boot. WOuld just having a ribbon cable in this spot make it take so long to boot, or is there another side of this tale yet to be told?

What would be the safest way to do this. I could move it to my roomates computer. But he has a very different hardware set up. He has a Gigabyte DS4, E6750, and a few other tweaks. I've never really moved drives before, so what would be the way to do this?

I've gotten it to boot, but the computer is MUCH slowwer to load windows. It used to load in about 30 seconds, I watched it and it took about 7 minutes to load. Once it did, it seemed to run fine. I hope this narrows my issue better.

UPDATE: Ok, so I ran a full ChkDsk just to be sure. It took a while, but no errors or anything it seems. However, I have narrowed the issue to the Bios I believe. I have a 680i A1 board, and it seems when it gets to the Detecting IDE drives on the booting, it will hang there for about 10-15 seconds. Then continue. Then it takes Windows about 5 minutes to completely boot. I'm not to sure, but will call EVGA soon. Just to save time though, any similar problems you all may have had with this or a similar issue?

UPDATE:

So I got off the phone with EVGA a while ago. In short, he tells me it could either be my Mobo or HD. I gotta go get a cheap SATA drive tommarow and test this. If it lags alot on this new drive, its the mobo. If it boots fine, its the HD, and I gotta get another one, and RMA my current one to Seagate. Progress so far, ether way, FedEx is getting my buisness this weekend.

Kudos TPU for your help, we'll be back tommarow for the stirring conclusion.

Ill give that a try too. Also, just wanted to add. EVGA customer support is gold. I wish every other company were this kind to their fan base.
