Although the console with this software came out after the SB connect 2, it's become very clear and concise to me that, in practice, the connect 2 software is much better than the command...
The Command doesn't use .kga files, and although it does have more configuration files for the Command's features—which makes it better at its functions—over the years, my AE5 card has died with this software because it "failed to detect" the audio output from my 2.1 Logitech speakers.
It only recognizes—and through the windows sound settings—the stereo output, and the 5.1... Since windows doesn't have any other default settings, it's normal that my 2.1 has become obsolete, or rather, dead (since this configuration isn't recognized in either the command console or the windows sound panel)...
The Sound Blaster connect doesn't actually have a 2.1 speaker configuration to choose from and use on that console; however, it does have alternative configurations to choose from...
When this problem occurs in the SB command prompt, the console no longer offers any options, nor does it even show "no speaker configuration"; therefore, the console doesn't work, and it's as if it doesn't detect the AE5 card installed on the motherboard...
The only option left is to connect the card via cable to the SPDIF/optical output to continue using the command console, and the sound...
And the sound is lower and poorer, and you also have to take into account which speaker set—and their quality—you're using for this alternative connection...
In other words, the console is useless, so i ended up uninstalling it. And - by chance, and trying to install an AAF Optimus mod driver - the SB Connect 2 console was installed, which brought my AE5 card (which is approx... 3 years old!) back to life (again!)...
And that's a very short lifespan for a sound card that, back in the day, cost a fortune - i mean, you actually pay more than the product actually costs - and more than what the sound card has inside as hardware...
The thing is, creative is an absolute fraud; and it can be said that within the international landscape, and among the most recognized and best-selling brands on the market... there is this brand, which, as is well known, fame precedes (when money is the most powerful knight), and this places you on a pedestal within the few and very limited purchasing options within the market for "truly competent" audio cards today...
And these, supposedly, are also accompanied by the curse of "planned obsolescence," which is a point in favor of the companies and brands dedicated to marketing these audio cards.
In summary: that .kga files, and their function of activating creative consoles; It is a "insurance" that is certainly very productive, and that provides stability and long life to its users; either through mod drivers, or by creating second chances for old cards and/or those with problems derived from their modern software or their very defective hardware, which have been deliberately created this way, and to the misfortune of their users and buyers of the aforementioned creative...
