Hello,
Two weeks ago internet stopped working. All diodes on router and icons at PC (at all PCs which were connected to the wifi) showed that everything is ok, but internet just didn´t work.
So I tried ethernet cable and it worked (but only a few domains). But it worked for just a couple of hours and than I had to restore it to defalut and reset the info (MAc adress, dynamic connection, host name) to make it work again.
After this procedrue wifi started to work, but again only for a couple of hours. Today it stops working entirely (but the diodes and the icons still signalize that everything should be ok).
We also tried a new router, but it didn´t work as well (after we configured everything, the same problem appeared, anyway after we connected te first, older router, it worked again for a few hours.).
Firmware is updated. Modem is used by multiple users, cable is new, ISP is trustworthy and several people at the house are using the same one, so I don´t think there is the problem either.
I haven´t found any similar problem at internet discussion and no1 seems to know what is actually happening.
I also tried to change DHCP adress pool, it didin´t work. I am getting pretty frustrated :-(

ISP through cable modem? First thing to always check (layer 1) are cables. If there is the slightest thing wrong with one the whole system may fail. Faulty cable, faulty connector(s)

Mine has gone out twice in the last year. First time was on the delivery side outside at the cable housing, and last week the modem died.

OP: Welcome to TPU! If all else checks out, then have the cable company check the problem out and fix. It could easily be one of the things I mentioned.

last week the modem died.

A friend had Comcast come by just this morning to replace their cable modem gone bad. SSID's would mysteriously dissapear, logging into the router revealed they we still assigned, it starts working but doesn't ask for a key any more even though there's on assigned for each channel, then the SSID's disappear again!

This is why I distrust modem/router combos. With separate devices you can test them individually on LAN and WAN.
