Have any of you guys that use Vista had a performance increase?

In 3dmark03, i got the same as XP.

Yet, just then, i ran the Counter Strike: Source stress test, and i got 150FPS. This is a huge leap from 120FPS I was getting with XP.

With XP, i would only get 150FPS when my conroe was @ 3Ghz, now its @ stock and its getting that!

Im gonna OC now and see how it goes.

Its odd as well, because in the settings menu (on CS:S), it thinks i have DirectX 9 as software, yet im in Vista, so its DX10.

ya, maybe after the update the perf. increased. sry didn't use any tests but checked between nfsu perf. with a weak card like 7300GS and I see 9fps gain :D (custom settings though)
EDIT: Btw, DX10+dx9 gpu=DX9 mode result

Okkkkk

You gonna love this: (im scared...my comp is wrecked :p)

at 3Ghz, on XP it scored 150. Now, on Vista, it scores 129.

at stock (and i triple checked this), on XP it got 120 and now its getting 151.9

What the? Overclocked is getting 20 frames lower than stock

whats your ram at at stock and at 3GHz, I dont know if it matters :ohwell:

At 3Ghz, even the RAM is OC'd from 800Mhz to 950Mhz...and im still getting a performance loss :|

Y.A.V.P (Yet Another Vista Problem) :ohwell:, maybe it's a glitch...

Or maybe, my comp is stupid :D

I *might* have time this weekend to run some benchmarks. To me, this is stuffed :)

Just for reference, the rig in my siggy:

On XP 3DM05: 13088
On Vista Ultimate X86: 10975.

Crazy, 2000 points.

Might be a crossfire problem with Vista

Might just be the fact that Vista is sh*t for games and anything to do with gfx cards... :p

Hey, ive gotten a performance increase on Vista, so your logic isnt right :D

I think my comp is stuffed :D

Like how do you get a LOWER score when your comp is OC'd by almost 50% :shadedshu

Could be, never actually thought of that.

(My temps are way too hot)

It was fine under XP tho

It was fine under XP tho
XP doesn't have as much stuff running to get corrupted by a slightly unstable overclock.

Yeah thats true....especially when running 57 processes :D

Just wanted to add that I saw about a 5-10% increase in GRAW with Vista.

This thread forced me to do some benchies between Vista and XP, lol but i don't have XP anymore  Only XP x64(on which I have net problems :()and 2k3...
My XP Hp OEM Disc doesn't work on Asus P5B  Dunno why
hm, then i'll check between 2k3 and Vista :D

Btw, does loaded apps. i.e ram consumption affect benchies ? If so then I'll have to stuff 2k3 until it looks and feels like Vista
Brb with the benchies ;)
P.s they're gonna be horrible as on my 2nd rig ;)

LOL fair enough :D

Good to see some tests :)

YAY!! Benchies here :D
As I said they're horrible :p
Benchmark Utility used- 3dMark05
Hardware :p - C2d E6300@stock
7300GS 512mb, 2x512mb 533mhz  (My 2nd rig)

Now look at the big difference =>
Vista - 3dmarks = 1362, CPU = 9746
2k3 - 3dmarks = 2037, CPU = 7013
Such a difference...

So Vista is better with CPU, but worse with graphics...

I might do these tests before i set up Vista on my 3rd rig (P4 2.6ghz, X800XT PE, 1GB PC3200) and compare it with XP (still waiting for the X800 from RMA tho)

BTW - dont call that rig crap, besides the gfx, it aint that bad ;)
