Hi folks,
i was organizing my files on one of my 2 tb hard drives and its a mess, theres 3 partitions, one has the old windows installed, another is empty and the other has important files, i wish to erase the first 2 and add the free space to the 3rd one, i tried to do that but i cant , it doesnt let me.
Is there a way to join partitions thats safe and easy to do? or should i just backup and format the entire disk? this option is a bit hard for me since i dont have anymore space to put the files.
Looking forward to your comments

Just copy off what you want to save. Delete all the partitions and create a new one then format. if you have problems in windows disk manager use a systems disk, or diskpart command. Hint youtube can be very helpful

EDIT: be carful if you use diskpart, make sure you have the correct drive selected

Right click on the partitions you don't want anymore and click delete then right click the remaining partition and click extend.

Copy the files you need on to a different disk, delete all partitions and format , copy the files back on to the disk , job done .

If Windows' partition management is coming up short, give EaseUS Partition Master a try. It can delete/resize/move/merge partitions easily but may require a reboot to finish the job. I strongly recommend that you back up the files on the partition(s) that you are manipulating, just in case something goes wrong.

You should have a backup anyways. Time to start saving for a backup because you'll be in the same boat if the drive fails anyways and all of these efforts will be in vain.

ok thx for your help, i will try using disk management and move the files to the SSD then back to the HDD, i forgot i had enough room there.
another question if i may, would you recommend using the SSD to install demanding games? i currently have the OS installed there, and we all know its not recommended to use the C drive for games, specially for modded games like Skyrim and Fallout, in Nexus Mod manager there is an option to choose the virtual drive, maybe i could set the SSD to that, so that the mods load faster, what would you do? is it a good idea to partition an SSD?

Honestly I think partitioning drives is a thing of the naughties man, drives have plenty of space and ssd's are plenty fast enough , you really should have a backup drive /nas/cloud to fall bk on if needs be without all this partioning nonsense .

Should be done with some third-party software without backup the whole disk. You can please find some useful tutorials.

Googling gets

That video is mislabelled; it does not show how to merge partitions. The author deletes partition 4 and expands partition 3 to occupy the resulting free space. If there was data on partition 4, it was lost in this process. When you merge two partitions, the data in both of them ends up in the final partition.
