Hello everyone. i have ran into a bad problem, i changed settings on my laptop power settings that when i close my lid it does not sleep. and when i tried it it didnt sleep rather turn the screen off and made it black n white as when you log off, the screen went from color to black n white and now it wont go back to color.
I shut down my computer and tried again and still its Monochrome :( wont get color.

I dont know if my black and white screen shot is Black and white as i cant really tell

those are color.

sounds like the cable connecting your screen to your monitor may be loose or damaged.

screenie is in color...

damn, just beat me

try changing settings to the way they were

tried that too still wont work, when i open the lid back and enter te password, the screen flikers for a second and turn to color for around 2 seconds, and when the desktop is loaded up it turns black again, and just to say the connections arent loose so not physical problem just a windows problem but dont know how to solve it

you've failed to provide any specs of the laptop.

it is not a windows problem. its a setting to do with the video card.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the video card drivers.

It also happens atleast when the Shutdown/Standby/Restart appears in WinXP.
As screen slowly turns black and white.... thats the problem but didnt go away but i'll try it anyway

ah i see where you're going now, you think it might be that 'shut down menu' grey filter getting stuck.

Never heard of that happening before.

Yup, what Mussels said, try the drivers re-install.

That's quite simple to verify, enter the BIOS, is that black and white as well or does it show color? If the BIOS has color it's a software issue.

he already said it flickers on and off between color and greyscale when he logs in to windows.
