Does anyone have a Fractal Design Define S or case with the same 3.5" drive mount?

Have a fairly specific question in regards to the Fractal Design Define S and possibly another Fractal case if they use the same 3.5" HDD mounts. Is it possible to move the two rubberized noise dampeners / spacers for the screws to the rear position? Pictured here:

Tried pulling one apart from the front and back but it they are stuck together fairly tight. Are these non-removable? Just want to confirm before I destroy one of the mounts.

The reason I need to move the rubberized spacers / noise dampeners is because I just bought a Toshiba X300 6TB drive and it lacks screw positions in the middle area. It only has 4x screw positions, two in the front and two in the rear. I'd like to move them to the rear slots so I can continue to minimize as much noise as possible as that is part of the reason I bought this case.

As a side note the screw box claims I was supposed to get enough screws for 6x 3.5" HDD mounts (for 3 HDDs total) but I only received 8 screws, just enough for two HDDs... which is going to be problematic as the only other 3.5" drive mounting screws won't fit with the noise spacers / whatever they are called due to the added length. Although this case is better when it comes to heat management I do miss how easy my older Corsair was to use.

I have a Define R5. Yes you can totally move the rubber spacers. I used to do it for better wire management when i had a whole bunch of HDDs.

mine were soft and squishty and could be moved around.

not sure why you'd want to, unless you're doing something weird with the drive placement.

I have a Define R4 (love it BTW) and I agree they can be moved. Just slide them towards the bigger opening. That's exactly why those bigger openings are there.

If your rubber grommets are too stiff, dunk the whole adapter in a sink full of hot water for a couple minutes to soften them up.

Thanks. One was very stiff but the rest came off easily. Now I have mounted my X300 properly.

Does anyone know where I can 4x of these screws (3.5" screws)?

Not sure what dimension they are, but I'd like them to have the smooth area so they can fit with the rubber spacers on. Tried contacting Fractal but I doubt I will get a response.

I have some spares that are shorter and can be used without the spacer, but again I'm like to minimize noise for all HDDs. Again, props to Fractal for not supplying enough screws. :p

They must have given me your extra screws. Both cases they have me extra of everything.

Where are you at?

Create a support ticket on their website, their tech support is pretty good.

CA. Sent a support ticket, hopefully they get back to me soon.

If they don't help, then either @rtwjunkie or I can hook you up with some

I'll take one of you up on the offer if they don't come through. It has only been about a day yet, so wait it out a bit longer. Hopefully they deliver. :)

They are not really proprietary screws. If you have a decent Ace Hardware in your area, you should be able to find screws that will work. You might have to buy separate washers but that is no big deal.

Other screws will work sure but the Fractal ones are really done well for their application.

Alternate usage- one of the slickest ways to attach a fan to a radiator

As a happy owner of a FD case, I agree 100%. And if exact replacements can be found at a reasonable cost (don't forget shipping!) then I would surely go for them. But considering it is likely no one else would notice substitutes are being used, I would not be too worried about getting exact replacements.

In fact, while FD provides some of the best OEM case fans IMO, there are still many who seek out even greater noise and vibration isolation and forgo using mounting screws for vibration dampening fan mounts instead.

@Flogger23m did you get everything sorted out? Just realized I have that hdd piece and 4 screws that needed about a week ago, but I don't know if you've got it taken care of. Let me know if you still need it.

Here's another dude with many, many spare Fractal HDD screws ready to send some over.

You should put that in your support ticket if they dont provide: 'you gave everyone at TPU extra screws, and I didn't get any!' + sad face.

That’s good stuff there!

Seriously, OP, plenty of us with spare screws, so let us know.

I'm finally starting to understand this site. Lots of loose screws running about! ;)

I recently bought a meshify-c, i didnt use any of the mounting cages or screws, if you'd like your welcome to them. I also have a very large assortment of thumb screws etc

If none of the other offers pan out of course

Bit of an update, they eventually did send me a package that should have them. But I went out of town when they arrived. Hopefully they sent the right ones!

Greetings gentleman

I recognize that this is an EPIC bump of an old thread, but the parameters of my situation is 90% similar so I figured it close enough to post here than to start a new one.

I recently purchased a system housed in a Define S off my local Craigslist and picked up another Fractal GP14 fan to match the ones that came stock, in case I want to increase the overclock (2600K @ 4.3 Ghz on stock voltage, cooled by a Dark Rock Pro 3) when I realized that I don't have the proper screws to mount it!

So I am humbly requesting if any of you would have any of the right kind of screws, about an inch long and they're surplus to your requirements?

Thanks and cheers!

Do you really need long screws? What if you try to insert the screws from the exterior of the case? With the fan just on the other side of the sheet metal, the short screws should work just fine.
