So I've since fixed the overheating issue on my dad's CQ60-220US, BUT the fan speeds are just running way too loud for my liking. The bottom of the laptop is no longer hot to the touch, the hottest part is actually the 7200 RPM Scorpio Black drive I put in there, which I'll be replacing very soon with an SSD.

I was Googling around and found a method that worked on older HP laptops (and some have reportedly gotten the tweak to work with Compaq laptops as well) and decided to give it a shot.

This is the guide I'm following.

I'm currently stuck at step 14. When I type in "asl dsdt.asl" into cmd, it gives me an error saying that "asl" is not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I know doing this is extremely risky, but the laptop isn't getting nearly as hot as it was prior to my copper mod, so I feel it's safe to tone the fan speed down an average of 30%.

Is there a reason I'm not able to run the "asl" command despite command prompt being run as administrator?
