Does anyone know of any good websites to self teach the basics of using a DSLR??? --- mods please move if this is in the wrong section --- Thanks for the advice that anyone can give! :toast:

Feel free to check out the DSLR Clubhouse in my sig. I would suggest a book. I can't recall the name at the moment, but one that I used was really handy.

Google "DSLR Tutorials". Honest. I'm not being a dick.
Tons of stuff.

I own a Nikon D300 and it has more menus than TPU. lol
That's how I found tips and tricks.

Might be easier looking or just asking on these and other forums really.

I was going to link that, but I was on my phone so you beat me to it :(

I'm not sure how focused they are on DSLRs, but http://forums.steves-digicams.com/ is my favorite camera forum. I only own a Panasonic FZ35, but many have DSLRs in this forum and there is alot to learn

google just seems so crappy to me lately... It used to be the first few links were perfect for what you type... now I'm finding I have to go 8-10 pages deep. Plus I like other peoples recommendations, so that I don't waste valuable time on a site that is just trying to sell you crap that you didn't even want when you clicked the site.

you want to read up on how aperture, iso, shutter time work.
then go out and start taking pictures, experiment, learn

I find that I learn way faster and better with a few hours of theory before practicing

I was gonna propose the same thing too. Bugger. Gotta admit it was a strange name for a site tbh! I wonder if it was intended.
