The X800 XT line of ATI video cards are VIVO, and they are not as expensive as the X800 XT AIW card by a large amount. We have a Radeon 9800 Pro VIVO and the X800 XT VIVO, both these cards will capture and show TV on the monitor, or show the computer programs on the TV screen. Now the AIW cards will do much more than the VIVO chip will. That is why the VIVO is much less than the AIW chip. Good cards all of them.
Let's make it clear... I mean if a took an ATI Card + PCI TV Card you enable all functions from the multimedia center except those from remote control... You can view multiple channels and activate personal video recording, surfing, etc. No matter if you own VIVO or noVIVO

You may watch TV on your computer screen.
Or you may use the TV for a monitor.
If you have dual channel capability, You could watch TV via the TV our card,
Then you could record a different channel via the video card if that card has VIVO capabilities.

So you can use ATI Multimedia center with a non-AIW card and a tvtuner????

I'll have to give this a shot with my 9800pro and Leadtek TVtuner if so... Will it work??

Okay well do u think leadtek px 6800 tdh , would outperform x700 ? Remember both got 256 mb :D . U noe im totaly not convinced with 6600 .

Your question that started the topic wasn't clear and that may be why the answers are causing you to be "totally not convinced". After reading the thread it appears that when you say "6600 OC" you are actually referring to the BFG 6600 GT OC. This is not the same as the vanilla (ie basic) 6600, the GT is much faster. Within the mid-range category of vidcards the 6600 is entry level while the 6600 GT (and especially the BFG model) is high end. Same goes for ATI X700 vs X700XT. Performance wise these models are slightly faster than the "old" 9800 Pro and support more modern technologies.

So I'm assuming the cards you wanted to compare were the 6600 GT OC and the X700XT. Like some posters ahbe mentioned there are many reviews comparing the two and which one is best depends on which games you're playing. After reading some of those reviews it seems to me that the consensus is that the 6600 GT is slightly faster and that having 128Mb of VRAM rather than 256 doesn't make much of a difference. IMHO the difference between both cards is not worth splitting hairs over: if I were you I'd just get the one that's a better deal. The only reason I would suggest the 6600 GT over the X700XT is because I have a 6600 GT myself and am very satisfied with it.

Download ati multimedia center 9.2 or less. Try it and enjoy it. I've been doing it for almost 4 years starting with Radeon 64MB DDR (7200), and actually with my X700. If you TV CHIP is a BT878 u got it but if doesnt u can only get audio from source TV channel.
If you want better image and quality and if you own a PCI TV+FM card download Winamp TV v.1.9 Beta... Try it... and use the Ati multimedia for recording...
