Aspi drivers are ok?installed?

aspi?..sorry still a newb

Ok well your problem now is that you have a master\slave confliction.

The same as HDD when you have more than 1 hooked up you need to select Master or slave.

There are some jumpers on the back of the Roms that you can selct with. SLV MSR CS

CS is cable select.

Another thing to check is in the Bios you have enabled the Secondary Master slave devices and you should also be able to Auto detect from here too.

If the CD Rom isnt to old and you have service pack 2 then that shoud be it, however if not then yeah you will have to install the ASPI Drivers. These are drivers that allow communication between your CD rom (and various other devices) and Windows.

So you can do all that or you can just take it out and then we can look at your Disk not working.

let us know how you get on?

turns out its my ide cable ...only one of the conections work so its all good for now

thanks for the help
