Hi all,

I have a PS3 and a PC but I'd like to be able to use the Playstation and the PC on the same monitor, I have a HDMI cable for the Playstation and a DVI cable for the PC so this is why I came round with the idea of a DVI switch.

I understand that I could use a HDMI to DVI cable for the Playstation to make connecting the whole thing up and finding the hardware abit easier.

My problem is that I don't really know what I'm looking for, I've had a swift look through the KVM switchs on Overclockers UK and E-Bay and tried to look for DVI Switchs with google but I'm not really getting what I want.

Also even with this switch connecting both the PS3 via HDMI or DVI and PC via DVI to the same monitor how would I begin to go about getting the sound from the Playstation? I have PC speakers but don't know what I need to make the speakers work on both platforms... some other sort or switch? Or something that can get sound from both at the same time?

Please help, I'm so confused and this is ground I haven't really bothered touching on before... cheers in advance all :)

you'll just need to find a KVM switch with DVI, or a HDMI switch.

HDMI switch is likely cheaper.

as for the sound, unless they use the same connector you cant. in my case my HDMI switch and speakers both use IR remotes, so i set up my logitech harmony remote to swap between them at the same time. (one button push changes HDMI switch and speaker input together)

You can get KVM switches that have DVI, USB (mouse and keyboard), and two-channel audio through miniplugs but they aren't cheap (for example, mine was over $250 USD without cables). The cheapest way to go might be to get a caputre card for your computer with HDMI in. You plug your PS3 into there and your PC will replicate it to the monitor.
