months ago i bought a Radeon 5850, before that i had a Radeon 3xxx Series VCard, So, the 5850 worked fine, reinstalled drivers, dxdiag shows 5800 series, and Metro 2033 has a dx11 option.

The problem started yesterday, When i updated the drivers for my vcard. Did the right thing though. Uninstall on Control Panel, Then on Device Manager, then driver cleaner, then driver cleaner on safe mode, the driver cleaner again(to be sure), and install the latest drivers. then i started metro 2033, and boom, the dx11 option is gone. dx9 and dx10 is there but no 11.

Checked dxdiag and in the display tab. device name is showing the wrong the name. the name of my old GPU. but in CCC, GPU-Z, Device Manager, It shows my current video. in the dxdiag it shows not.

Also when you go to the screen resolution -> advanced settings,
The Adapter type shows my old card. but below it. the adapter string shows my new card.

However. im getting the performance that i should with my 5850. the only problem is dxdiag showing my old video card and not being able to play in real dx11 mode.(with tesselation and stuff)

Also in the Dxdiag the dx version shows as dx11 and it says no need to update when i try to update.

EDIT: I search the registry for a bit and i fount out that in /MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Also in Controlset1 and Current Control Set. My old video card is still listed there. Like in the DriverDesc. It says radeon hd 3600 series. ni the infsection. also shows an ati2mtag_RV630(i think rv630 points out to that series of video cards) and other more details that couldn't understand.

I used the find option and searched radeon hd 3600 series and found out the Its all everywhere in my registry! it should be 5800 series., however i can still find some strings that says hd 5800 series.

SOLVED: I fixed it, i just searched all strings in the registry that contains "hd 3600 series" and deleted them(have to set the permissions to me so i can delete it), then i reinstalled the drivers and its now working. Its a Registry error.

Uhm i did that and it says no need to update. Direct3d 11 is present on the system, no update required.

I'm trying to find anything in the registry that points out to my old vcard and change it to my new one.

uninstall all video card drivers, reboot, install catalyst 10.4a (google it)

I did that many many times already and still it didn't solve the problem. in fact this is the one that caused my problem, before all worked well, but when i updated my drivers.(to the latest 10.4 drivers) it suddenly remembered my old video card.
