Software There are two systems here from Storage down they are identical.
I have two accounts with EA, the one on which I am communicating now in order to try and recover my original account and my original account.

I was unable to remember my account login email address as I was with an ISP years earlier when I joined Origin ( what EAs game service used to be called ). I was told if I could remember my email address that I used for the login to come back and they would be able to sort it for me.

So recently I did remember and I went back to them only to be told that in order to recover my old account that I would have to be able to have an email sent to it to recover the password... impossible, I can't have an email sent to an ISP that no longer exists.

I asked them to change the email address to one I provided or alter the password and provide me with that so I could transfer my account back to the new address.. would not do it.

Then I was told that because my account had not been used for such a long time they had deactivated it and even if I could have an email sent to the ISP that no longer exists it would make no difference because they basically consider it dead.

So they made me jump through hoops and when I did get what they wanted they moved the goal posts and the closed the park.

In short this is theft and I encourage everyone to stay away from EA because they are literally THIEVES.

This is just the basic line of support. The standard account protection method is defended by support. They just pointed you to it.

You have an unusual situation here; you could ID yourself in another way. Payment details with EA versus your provided ID. Its not hard, I think you have to escalate.

You have to literally spell it out for them. Reopen your ticket so history is preserved.

I asked about escalation to be told "there is no escalation" it is their policy. as for payment details we are talking YEARS there is no way to find that information from the bank without paying for it.

What they have done now is poked the Bear, when I get pissed off watch out because it comes back to bite hard thus me putting this message out everywhere and in multiple languages so people are aware that EA rips off its customers.

I am literally being told that even though I have the email address now even if I could receive email on it which I cant because its dead - that they have closed my account and there is no way to reopen it.. that is stealing.

Try something from ways after link.
Sorry I don't understand what you are trying to express here.

I just realized I have another avenue of approach to, my ex flatmate tony watches a lot of TwitchTV, one of the people he follows there is a Hecto Millionaire who owns a major share holding in EA, I wonder how he would feel about this.

Direct 2 Drive did it to me years ago, i asked them to change the email account as it was under the ISP email account and then after they agreeing to do it they flat out said i never had one.

In short you would have preferred if I could just contact EA, give them your email address and they handed the ownership of the account over to me, because I said so, cross my heart and hope to die?

Also, if you think this is theft, you probably didn't read the EULA and were under the impression that you own/bought something from them. You didn't, you've just licensed the rights to access their IP. Access rights can and will be revoked.

The fact of the matter is - NO ONE ELSE KNOWS WHAT THE EMAIL ADDRESS IS FOR THAT ACCOUNT, you couldn't claim it if you tried because you don't have that one basic piece of information - the only one who does is me. So your argument is flawed in that respect, also no one else would be able to tell them the gamer tag for other providers that I assigned to the account - yet again - only information that I have.
So their argument about not being able to show the account is mine is garbage, for one thing my name is on it so they are deliberately obfuscating in order to steal.

I have just found out I should talk to someone called EA_Shepard on the EA forums so that is at the moment what I have done.
Lets see if he can get a different result.

You can write all capital but it wont change EA policy. There is always a way to escalate but you will need some indisputable way to prove you are the account holder. Other than that, EA is possibly bound by law (GDPR) to close and erase personal data if it goes unused for X years, could be 3, could be 5, or some number of months depending on the kind of data.

Keep your cool, stay factual, and work with them. Best chance you have.

Maybe I bought a list of email from the dark web. Or maybe I'm a friend of yours that knows your gamer tag.

Also yes, they aren't interested in reviving accounts this old. Old accounts play old games and they need the numbers of players of old games to dwindle so they can shut down the servers without much fuss.

It is my ISP's commitment to maintain the line to me for up to 3 months after the contract has ended. In the meantime, they will cut the data cable and put away the modem or router. If I want to use their services again, I will pay for installation as if I were a new subscriber. Literally all service companies do this.

I care not one jot what your ISP does, EA sent an eMail to a dead address to tell me that they were closing my account for inactivity and then closed the account, in the mean time they have had me jump through hoops to try and get access to my account which I have now managed to navigate - to have them move the goalposts. It is unfair and unreasonable.

Whilst I sympathise, it's just another reminder that except for maybe GOG, all these "the only copy of your game installer exists solely in the cloud and you have to login regularly to keep your account alive" style service accounts are basically "disposable rent-ware" masquerading as owned games. Even Steam call purchased games "subscriptions" in their EULA. And this is the same EA that banned an entire country in the past (as well as shut down all the original acquired PopCap activation servers rendering the games unplayable unless repurchased)...

And yet I was chatting to a guy literally two seconds ago who told me that under the same situation with steam he managed to recover his account after not accessing it for seventeen years and steam bent over backwards to help him.

While I sympathize with your dilemma. EA must have their procedures... as you posted in your posts.
