Jo guys!
I bought Black Ops for my Dell gaming Laptop - the thing is........My Radeon only supports Shader 2! :ohwell:

I remember reading somewhere , that there is software, which can emulate shader 3 by using processor power! Since I upgraded sy single core to a dual core, I hope that thats gonna work good! :/
I've seen people playing GTA VI (Which requires shader 3.0) on their Netbooks!!!!???!!!?? I mean....COMMON!!!! With a friggin GMA950!!!???
They told me that they upgradet their single core N270 Atoms to a dualcore Intel Atom (My Turion Dualcore gives about twice the performance of a Dualcore Atom) and use a software that emulates shader 3.

So is there any way to do this?
Big thanks to helpers ahes! :toast:

Here's a video that might help you out. I don't know how well it will work though.

That didnt help much! :/
That download requires me to complete some stupid survey!!! I hate that stuff!!!! :banghead:

Is there a way to force a Shader 3 game to run under shader 2?
Maybee by manipulating a config file or command line of the game?

I'm sorry man. I googled it and that video was the first thing I found that didn't say it was impossible.

I'll keep looking to see if I can find something useful.

Everything I can find recommends either Swiftshader or 3d Analyze and they say that those programs slow performance down. You can look in to them if you want too.

Thanks! Will do! :)

i remember trying this many years ago, and the one time i got it working, performance was way, way too slow.

GTA IV (not VI, lol) had some mods out there that crippled its graphics back drastically to let the intel users game on it. remember that while their performance and drivers are often abysmal, if they're newer than what you've got, the odds on them supporting these features is higher.

As far as black ops go, i think you might be screwed. you've ran into the problem with 'gaming' laptops - they suck for upgrades.

Yeah I know!!!
My "Gaming Laptop" doesnt have the best GPU but its one if the fastest IGP's out there.
All I am using it for, Is CoD4 (10-50 FPS) and San Andreas Multiplayer (15-100 FPS)!
And to be hones: It does the job pritty well!!!

If it's the one in your system specs it is not one of the fastest there is. I do not think it will handle Black Ops well at all.

And calling it a gaming laptop is just false advertising. :(

I still have a gaming PC with a 66MHz Pentium! I use it for all of my DoS games! :)
So it's technicaly a Gaming PC, Right?
I also Use my dell 1501 for GTA and Call of duty 2,3,4 (Modern Warfare).
With Widescreen 4 GiGs of Ram, Dualcore + 2 Virtual cores and a soon comming 64GB SSD, it fulfilles all my gaming needs :) [except maybee blackops]

I can play Modern warfare on max resolution 1280*800 + AntiAliasing on!
If I can do that then I should also be able to play Black Ops on Bare bone settings......at least thats my theory! xD
